The future is hazy, but it seems brisket, beer, roasted corn, and fireworks at Town Lake in Austin may be in order.

Hi Mike: my wife and I have tickets to an evening of baroque choral music in a Benedictine abbey:

http://www.buckfast.org.uk/more_details.php?id=50

I'll give it a go, though baroque is one type of music that does little for me (if it ain't baroque don't fix it, I say).

Got an idea at the back of my mind that there's some further significance to 4th July - but I can't remember what...

Cheers - C

Actually, yes.

I am going to study music theory like crazy.

He inspired me, no joke. Music theory and I'm going to get some sweeping exercises. Basically an 18 hour guitar only day.

Hi bill948: you're welcome!

BTW: last time my wife and I were in Ireland a friend-of-a-friend in a bar got all hot and bothered about us pesky English. Eventually she accused us of having thrown all the tea into Dublin harbor...

That's history for you...

Ceri, will they perform the Star Spangled Banner?

Indeed! It was a well known number in 17th century Venice...

When I was stationed at RAF Chicksands (Shefford, Bedfordshire) back in the early '90s, the base leadership didn't want to offend our British hosts by celebrating Independence Day. So the 4th of July was "Airman Appreciation Day," which was celebrated on base with barbecue, baseball and fireworks!

Ceri, with what they must charge, don't go baroque there!

We have an acoustic neighborhood jam while sippin' on some adult beverages until the fireworks start and capture the attention of most. :?

Saturday, we go to stock car races. 8)

I'll wear my Fender "go fast - play loud" shirt. 8)
