Lotsa great players on that list plus one I've never heard of! Thanks Mr. Bill! Should I be surprise no one mentioned John Mayer. I personally don't think I've seen hime play anything besides Strats except when he is playing acoustic. I am not however a die hard fan and have not really seen him play "live", Tv or otherwise very much.

Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, Hank Marvin, Jeff Beck, Robin Trower. And I hate to say it but, John Mayer. Don't care for the guy but he's for sure a strat player who knows how to use the instrument.

Jerry McGee of the Ventures.

Hard to argue with the record of 30+ years and 20+ albums which sold 50+ milliom copies and ranged across everything from lounge to classical to acid rock to pop to Polynesian to surf.....

It was just to show that SRV didn't always play a strat.

SRV's first guitar was a Gibson melody maker I think that is what his biography said.

I play a strat.

Charles Hardin Holley's first electric guitar was a Gibson too, guess them Texas boys think alike.

My quintessential strat player would be Gary Hoey, he can make any sound he wants come out of a strat.

Looks like everyone hit all the major players (Beck, Rory, SRV, Hendrix, etc., etc.).

I have to agree with those who say Ron Wood is underrated. The dude can play! Another Strat player I like is Jimmy Vaughn.

The "QUINTESSENTIAL" Strat player ..... Rory Gallagher played the same Strat he bought when he was 15 until he died. You could line up all the Strats of all these players mentioned and his would be instantly identifiable along with SRV's. As far as John Mayer is concerned, IMO, there is NO comparison at all. Gallagher could outplay him on acoustic & electric ( not to mention slide ) on his death bed !!!

Ronnie Wood is an amazing player and has a great strat sound.

I'm also going to put Nick Zinner out there. If you've never heard of him he's from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and he actually inspired me to start looking at Strats after I'd played only Teles forever.
