Of course there are the obvious, Clapton, Hendrix & Buddy Guy come to mind. I was just wondering that besides the obvious artists, who do you view as the embodiment of a Strat player?

John Frusciante. Amazing, humble, and a dedicated person to music. He creates the most beautiful music that comes from his spirit and I think he is the best.

When I saw the Rolling Stones' Shine A Light movie, it really struck me how underrated Ronnie Wood really is. Keith Richard gets all the publicity, but Ronnie just keeps on truckin', steady and solid. In any other band, he'd be a superstar.

He reminds me of Guitar George from "The Sultans of Swing." He knows all the chords. Mind it's strictly rhythm; he doesn't wanna make it cry or sing...

But he must be cool with that, or he wouldn't have kept it up all these years.

Ronnie Wood's a good choice but I was thinking of one of the "originals" - Buddy Holly. Not the first Strat player but his sound (and the image of him holding it) did much to popularize the Fender sound outside of country.

I suppose he's simply happy playing what he's playing. But that's the way it should be.

Hello Pineknot14,

I'm gonna go back in time and put
Eldon Shamblin out there, He was a great
rhythm player with Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys.
Back in '54 Leo Fender gave him a prototype Strat it was
gold in color I think. Any how he was a real pioneer of the
electric guitar and a heck of a decent fella from what I can tell.

Cheers.

I am going to have to say STEVIE RAY as I never picture him with anything in his hands but a Strat. I mean all the other legends have had there Gibson phase or what ever but I honestly dont recal seeing Stevie with anything else. I guess he must have but I never saw it.
