I have friends who used to watch Kung Fu who are still sad about David Carradine. And then Ed McMahon, and then today Farrah, and then Michael, who I was never a particular fan of but you can't deny the impact and lasting legacy of his music and I never expected one day he wouldn't be around. And then also Sky Saxon from the Seeds, whose song "Pushin Too Hard" is on the first Nuggets album which had a huge influence on me in my youth.

And then Jerri Nielsen, the doctor who a few years ago had to treat herself for cancer while wintering at the South Pole - my sister was actually there at the time, for that same winter-over.

And then of course the people on the train in DC, and the people in Iran...

But to balance this a little bit, a friend from work just had her first baby yesterday, a little boy. So there's both sad news and good news, and things turn, turn, turn.
