need more info than just a couple of pictures of the front of the guitar.

Its a 82/83 strat. If all is original and unmodded about £800. Is that logo correct? 70's logo on a 50's/60's headstock looks strange to me.

My first thought, too. I don't know if there were any "transitional" guitars or not, but that "big headstock" logo on the traditional headstock seems like a forgery.

Can't quite put words to it, but there's something about the body that don't seem right :? Maybe it's just me or the way the picture's been taken

Time-Machine, look at the hard-tail bridge.

Then count the number of screws holding down the pickguard.

Love to understand your point about this, Slap. Should there be 8 screws instead of 10? Why is the hardtail revealing to you?

Thanks.

Ooooops. My bad.

Actually, there are 11, which is correct for modern guitar. I miscounted and thought there was an extra there for a minute. Duh.

As I said, it's probably just my eyes
But wether or not I can see, the number of screws and hardtail bridge would never make the body proportions differ
What's your point about this Slapchop, I'm not getting it? If the guitar is from the mid-80's as Nikis guess, there shouldn't be anything wrong with a hard tail bridge, right?

Do I remember Orvilleowner telling us something about a backlog of headstock decals getting used up on '80s production?

I'm probably remembering that wrong - hopefully he'll look in and tell us what he knows...

Nothing specific about that hardtail, and certainly not that it IS a hardtail... I just thought it looked... odd. Like Time Machine, it's either my eyes or the huge glare that makes it look kind of out-of-shape.

If it is a transitional logo, maybe the guitar is worth a buck or two.

Are you suggesting that Fender had a glut of left over 70's vintage decals and used them through to the "80s vintage guitars?

But what about the serial number? It appears incorrect.

Don't think I want to suggest anything - cos my memory of what Orville was saying about this is too foggy. But I'm sure I recall something about the style of the logo not being a sure clue to the date of manufacture.

Come to think of it, I believe I remember a quote from Fender's head of production in the '80s to that effect, too (can't remember his name, off-hand). Frustratingly, I'm running very late and haven't time to look it up.

Later, if possible. See y'all...

Cheers - C
