That's a ways away for me. I think the closest thing here is (and I hope I'm spelling this right) the Sonrise music festival in MN.

wow, interesting seeing this discussed here. (how did i miss this thread?)

brings back memories of when i used to play for the worship team at a local baptist church. that was a cool experience for me. we played alot of stuff, cant remember all of it. i remember playing some Crowder, Third Day, etc...dang its been awhile i guess

i recently fired up some of my old CDs...Switchfoot, Smalltown Poets, The Elms, Audio Adrenaline. cool stuff. i particularly like that Elms album, its "Truth, Soul, Rock and Roll". very nice.

i remember someone telling me a story from Creation or Purple Door years ago. The Newsboys were playing...and dang i cant remember what song it was, but all of a sudden this Meteor Shower flew across the sky mid-song! i cant believe i missed that.

by the way, i have to ask, where in PA are you FenderFanatic? i live outside Philly.

I dont believe in 'Christian Rock' personally. It's just a complete oxymoron to me. Something that used to be described as the Devil's music is now used a tool. Especially being someone who plays proper rock.

No offense intended but christian rock offends me. Rock music shouldnt have rules or ideals.

CC

[edit] Oh yeah and ANYTHING about religion isn't allowed here for this reason...

Yeah, I have to agree with you cc. It seems a bit of an oxymoron. All the best to the believers here, but I'm not one of "em.

Like politics, probably not a great topic for a Fender forum.

Big time. I do believe in a god but not in the conventional way. Music IS my religion and brings me closer to that being and the great and good in the universe. Using it as a tool just destroys everything rock n' roll stands for. Freedom of expression, sex, drugs and rock n' roll. The danger, the unpredictability. Especially being that music has never caused any wars.

I call for a thread lock.

JMPOV. No offense intended and I know no-one else intended any offense either. But this is a seed that aint gonna become anything but a big damn weed.

Yeah, all of those bands are really what got me started into music. Good memories. :D The nearest festival like that is Rock the Desert in West Texas, but even that's a drive.

CC, no one even mentioned the word 'Christian' or 'religion' until you did. I didn't see anything that would call for a thread lock until then.

Although I'm not a church goer I do hold Christian beliefs and principals and although I don't agree in proselytizing I don't see any harm in these people putting out the word about their event no more than I would for an event promoting world peace or farm aid etc.I think that if kids can be sent a positive message through rock music then more power to them,it's not like they're spreading racism or hatred.Rock music was branded "devil's music"by the same right wing fear mongers that also branded it "race music"or a much worse term that was racist and hateful.Although I can see where C.C. and others are coming from I don't see any harm in promoting their event as long as that's as far as it goes. We all know from past experience that these posts can quickly degrade into mudslinging matches so with any luck that won't happen.Peace to All.

Like I said, it's just my POV. Nothin else. You didn't have to mention those words to know what its about. It doesn't need Colombo to figure it out.

I'm sure these guys would protest if a devil worshipping festival was being promoted. That is all.

Edit: Rock n' roll is my life and it offends me to see it used in such a way but I'm just one guy and just voicing my opinion. Non Christians may be offended and people who believe in the truth of rock n' roll being used to brainwash may also protest. Like I said, no offense intended but my opinion is as valid as anyone else's.

p.s. 'Christian' is mentioned in the original post.

I respect and appreciate your opinion C.C. it is the people who can't be civil in their responses that derail some threads. You too certainly make very valid points.I guess in retrospect the forum isn't the best place to promote these events.

If it shouldn't have rules then I would imagine there isn't ANY restriction on content?

Unless ideally it is against the rules it shouldn't matter what the subject matter is.

i'm as nonreligious as it gets, i haven't been to a church since my father's funeral 9 years ago. But i really find it hard to get worked up if someone innocuously posts a lineup to a music fectival that he is excited to see.

just like i say to the people who protest heavy metal, or rap because of content, you always have the choice not to listen, and to monitor what your kids (if you have em,) listen to, but you have no right to try control or limit anyone else's choice. Do i think people should listen to better music than Lady gaga and such, sure, but it's their money and ears.

Exactly. Cheers. Thats the whole point. I dont want an argument but its how stuff gets started. I read it and voiced my opinion. Others may be harsher in how they go about it. Each to their own but personally I think it's a bad idea having things like that here. Again, I'm just one guy and my opinion might not count for anything.
