One of my lifelong favorites here in Southern California (but he tours the US often) is Dave Alvin. His songwriting equals Dylan and Springsteen for me. He started playing in the 80's with his brother in the Blasters. Now he has a solo career, and often plays folk/Americana. He plays RnR with a band called the Guilty Men.

He has a new CD out that he did with an all female roster of musicians. It is called Dave Alvin and the Guilty Women. As you might already expect, I believe that it is a masterpiece (your mileage may vary).

On the Liner Notes in the CD Booklet, the "SPECIAL THANKS" section has this included in the text: "... Shane Nicholas and Fender Amplifiers...".

Shane: Dave's main axe is a beat to hell yellow Strat that I believe he found in a pawn shop. In concert and on some CDs, I think he often sounds too thin. Maybe you could advise Dave on that too, though he doesn't sound as thin here as I have heard myself the few times I've seen him:

Thanks for the tip - I'll have to check it out. Love(d) the Blasters - both with Phil Alvin and with Keith Wyatt. Great American roots music.

I'm not surprised with the mention. Even though Shane may not play on Alvin's CD, he must have helped Alvin somehow.

The reason I say that is because Shane has help me in the past, I mention him in the liner notes for our new CD 'The Cold Backhand of Love'.

Me & Shane at Eric Clapton's Dallas Crossroads.
