I bought a Strat a few months ago and was wondering if anyone knew what gauge strings they have on straight from the factory? Its time to replace and I would like to keep the feel the same. I've never owned an electric and have no clue. Any ideas on what would be a good brand or should I just stick with Fender Super Bullets? Many thanks in advance!

Hello Pineknot14,

You probably got 9's but any music store will measure them for you.
Super bullets are fine I use em alot. Many folks form strong bonds
& opinions about their favorite strings. Try many see what you like
On my daily player I replace strings every few weeks.

Hope this helped a bit.

Cheers.

I buy whatever is on sale but my favs have been Dean Markley.

I just got a bunch of Dunlops for $2 something at GC. They come with a pick and a little poster showing all the stuff they make. Considering the products they have made I think it is worth trying them out at that price.

Just a preference. At this point, you might not notice any difference. When you've had it for a while and get used to exact tones and the feel of the strings, you might start to experiment more.

I've tried tons of strings over the years.

80's for rock and metal: GHS Boomers (9's) all the way. Loved them. Tried Markley and various others. Never liked them so I never tried again.

90's for rock and blues: D'Addario's (10's). Still love them and use them to this day.

Can I use other strings? Absolutely, and not notice a whole lot of difference. It's just the little things "I" noticed like brightness or lack of, smoothness of strings, the way they feel when I slide on them, clarity. All of which are very minimal in difference, but just little nuances that I prefer.
