I found a Strat today in a pawn shop for $130.00. Seeming suspecious I inspected it. It was in great conditions. However, on the headstock, Stratocaster is written in big letters in the wavy or semi wavy looking pattern that they usually are written in and Fender was in small letters. I do not think it was in the cursive writting but in standard black print. Both had registered trademark symbols but I CAN NOT find headstocks pics or forums online for this. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it worth buying?

Thanks

Here's the headstock on my Squier Standard Stratocaster:

Does the guitar you're describing look like this with the "Squier" decal scraped off? That certainly sounds like what you're saying.

Caveat emptor!

It could very well be a knockoff. There are in all actuality many of these circulating nowadays. If it seemed suspicious to you it probably was a fake.

Did it have a serial number?

Where Squirer is written is where Stratocaster is written. It looked a little larger than the writting of "Stratocaster" in the picture. It doesnt say by Fender. It says Fender in small black print under it. It is not in cursive I assume bc the print is too small for cursive print. Fender also not under Squirer like the pic. I will try to get a pic tomorrow if I can.

I dunno, ddop32, that doesn't sound like any legitimate Fender I've ever seen. But by all means post some pictures if you can. There are some pretty astute Fender detectives on this site who can sniff out a fake.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks i will try. I also ment to say Fender is not written directly under Stratocaster. It comes a little after it but is under it. There was other black print writting before Fender. Can not remember what it said though. I saw other Squires in there, and I knew that Squirer has a Strat brand. It was kind of odd bc they had the Squires and Epiphones together and this was apart from them. Thanks for the help though.

Thanks and one more thing. Fender is engraved into the wood with the other black writting. The Strat writting is the waving sticker though. Will def. look into this more

If you could get a picture I'm sure some people here would be able to tell you instantly how authentic it looks

I say for $130.00 give it a try and if you like it who will really care if it's the real deal or not. The name does not produce the sound. As far as quality goes you cant expect much for $130.00.

Are you shure it isn't a STARCASTER?? That sounds like what you're describing to me.
