If anything we should be happy that our Fender instruments have increased in value.

Does a retail increase REALLY increase the value on used guitars?

Maybe not right away, but the prices will go up. Especially with Fenders.

I've been to Sam Ash quite a few times this year. And, I don't know... this last time I noticed that the prices on some of the MIM Fenders have actually gone back down. Last year I bought a Deluxe Players Strat for $699. When the price hike happened, it was about $740. But, now they're back down to $699 again.

The MIA's, are still higher, though. I know that doesn't help anyone outside of the US. :(

Price change? I've been in a coma for a whole year....Fender actually just dropped prices a bit at many places like Musicians Friend. So I guess about 3-6 months from now, there will be a new thread entitled "Hooray for price drop!"

Hi Devon (is that your name?). We're just too polite to mention that price hike: we wouldn't want to hurt Fender's feelings.

...Don't get too bruised by all the responses on this thread. No one's bashing you in a nasty way; we're a friendly bunch really. Stick around...

Very, very old news.

And you might want to temper the indignation about prices. Fender is a business, not a charity. 'Seriously doubt, with economy-mega-suck market conditions, they did it for pure greed. "Survival" comes to mind.

And unless one is a pro, these are luxury items.

And personally, 'still believe Fender provides an OUTSTANDING product for the buck. Example: in the '67 catalogue, a Strat was $300. Back then, that was 100+ hours at UAW wage scale, $2.94 per hour.

No way does an out of the box modern American Stanadard Stratocaster cost 100 hours' union wages.

Toughen up. And do some research.

That's really refreshing Ceri. Ofcourse the dude's a bit late with his 'news', but if I were in his position I wouldn't feel like coming back...
And I really don't expect someone who's just made 15 posts to search the entire forums, although he might've been a little too proud of his news...

Although... I really enjoyed the picture slapchop drew haha

Well put, SlapChop! Haha...Pretty funny!!
