Wasn't he just concerned that it wouldn't function with uk voltage?
Thats how i understood it from Room Full Of Mirrors. I'm not saying it's a reliable source

Think of it, Chas was in the Animals, probably pretty rich at that moment, why would it seem so impossible to simply bring a fender amp or two to the uk?

Chas was skint, jeffreys owed him a good bit of money. Thats why he bought jeffreys onboard as managment. To keep him close and get his money from him. With the beatles, the who, cream and the stones touring america regularly i cant believe there were no fender amps in england at the time. The stones and the beatles both worked really hard to publicize hendrix here, he was mates with em.

Just on a point of information: Britain's extremely high trade tariffs of the 1950s that effectively prevented the import of Fender amps and guitars during that decade came to an end in 1959. Fender amps were easily available in the UK in the '60s.

It was for different reasons that Hendrix and the rest used Marshalls...

Cheers - C

Hello. I'm new here, but I've been lurking around this forum. I split my signal in stereo between a marshall half stack and a 15 watt practice amp and it sound massive! The little practice amp keeps up with the half stack fairly well, but in my experience, this is the best setup that will give a little 15 watter a good chance. On it's own, the 15 watter will be drowned out by other instruments.

Welcome to the Forum MonstersOfTheMidway!!! Lot of great Fender knowledge here.

Are you the same MonstersOfTheMidway from the Marshall amp Forum?

I have been lurking around there for 6 or 8 months... some real knowledge there as well... I have been thinking about a new Vintage Modern Marshall and reading posts there taking advantage of the good info for my research..

Again welcome and looking froward to your input here

Cheers

Bill

I have my 100 watt marshall stack which is connected to an old power amp and mixer, then outputed through my loud speakers all in my bedroom. Big works for me.

hot rod deville 212 w/ celestion vintage 30s and blues deluxe 112 w/ a vintage 30. i play em both live and at home. check out omnisonic volume knobs, theyre not attenuators, just external volume units. i was looking into an egnater 212 but kinda gave that up.

"All men play on 10"!

:D

I just finished listening to that song by Manowar and had to add that line to the thread.

You gotta appreciate the "over the top-ness" of this band. I choose to think the attitude was carefully thought out "tongue in cheek" camp.

Smaller amps are great IF you are playing someplace with a decent sound system. However if the sound systems are hit and miss, or you also play street festivals or other large open air venues you really do need a good high watt amp in your arsenal too.

Then I have to assume you have never seen the cover of that album:

If this is camp, I'm Dame Edna.

Well that post changed suddenly. One moment you're Waylon Flowers, the next you're Dame Edna.

Would the real SlapChop please step forwards?

I'm assuming you're the one third from the left, yes?

 - C

PS Though I'm not sure I want to be throwing coy winks around just at this second...

I thought Dame Edna was funnier, so I changed it when I changed the link (for some reason, the first interation I found of this thing wouldn't work with the image tags. :))

Yeah, that's me, lead singer and Wearer Of The Oils.

Yes I've seen that particular album cover. Lots of their stuff was similarly themed. I just can't see how any band could take themselves seriously when portraying the "Metal Barbarians of the North". It has to have been all in fun.

It's a consious choice on my part to give them the benefit of the doubt. That way I can listen to some of their tunes, have a chuckle at the "epic-ness of it all" and not go too far down the "oh my God what were they thinking" path.
