I purchased both the CD set and the DVD set from Amazon.

Hi Doc thanks for the insight, I have the Cd for the MSG show, a great cd ,I lost alot of my old albums but am thinking about buying updated versions of Traffic and Blind Faiths records.
My goal in concert participation is to get seats as close to the stage as possible as to hear the music on stage instead of hearing it through a PA system.
I have to say the Strat right into a twin no effects just a wah for certain solos, fhop would have loved it.
Winwood played his Strat (lace sensor pups) into a cyber twin with 4 presets, he mainly played a B3 with vintage leslie, Georgia on my mind, one of my favs.

Since I am not close to any concerts they are doing live, I opted to watch it on the TV.

I noticed that the guitars Clapton was playing all had the Custom Shop logo on the back of the headstock, but none of the ones Winwood played had one.

Thanks to the camera folks for making that observation possible.

I've been watching my local PBS schedule and haven't found this yet, guess I'll just need to get the DVD.

Locally PBS integrated the concert into their semi annual fund raiser, so the concert was always being interrupted by money requests.

Do it on a DVR and it's not so bad.

Last time I had those kind of tickets for Eric (MSG: From The Cradle Tour)
I had a 7 foot center standing two rows in front of me all evening. :?

In the 'things are seldom what they seem' department, go to:
www.premierguitar.com/Magazine/Issue/20 ... eview.aspx. Frank has already been given this link. You may have to log into 'article search' to get to it.

Thanks for posting the pictures Gratz. You are right, I would have loved it! The strat straight into the 57 Twin is right up my alley! I also enjoy a Tele sound run through that particular amp! 8)

Doc, I did read that article and found it very helpful along with the video!

What was most interesting therein were how the mods to the amp gave what the author felt was superior tone. We have long speculated on what Clapton was using and much had been said about his '57's being modded.

If you listen carefully to the CD you can certainly appreciate the subtle levels of different in the way the same guitar is voiced for different songs.
Niki stands by his conviction that Eric is constantly tweaking the balance on the preamp and, remember, his guitar has a standard tone circuit, NOT a TBX. In addition, Niki's strong conviction that the mixing board plays a role in what comes across to the house.

That could be true Doc. If you notice EC usually has 2- 57's stacked or in combo and a couple more sitting behind those. I'm guessing that each pair are set up differently and the sound man knows which set to use for certain songs. Just a guess. The amp is real versatile in tube swaps and removal.

I have a contemporary blues compilation which has the likes of Mayall, Moore, Bonamassa, Allison, Thorogood, Gales, Trucks, among others. Each with such interesting tone that one wonders this "pursuit" of Clapton. I guess its that singing sustain in the upper registers that grabs players. Kind of like a great operatic tenor hitting high C.
