I have so much more fun buying the older music than the new stuff. :D You can walk in a store and get some great music for less money than the new crappy stuff. Today I got Santana and Lynyrd Skynyrd albums for a combined $16. Today's CDs cost $20ish for one good song and some filler (not all bands but too many).

FWIW, I don't own any albums less than thirty years old.

Most of what I listen to now is thirty years old or older, with the exception of SRV which is why it's twenty. Recently I've getting into jazz, which is more like 40-60 years old. I never, ever thought I'd like music that old, but I do. :D

Yup.

For whatever reason, "older music," whether Bach, Bethoven, Joplin, Django, Holly, Beatles, Cream or SRV...

...is just plain more appealing. Go figure.

Many of the "albums/CDs" that have come out over the past decade, if not the past 2 or 3, are just 3 possible radio-video singles, and the rest are filler...Many labels should just release singles from most of their artists, and not worry about a full-length releases and promotional money. Money could be saved on tours as well if they just did all these huge package tours/showcases like in the 50s and 60s where the artist would just play a couple songs...

Tell me about it!! O_O
All of the new music today, in my personal opinion, is utter crap. :P

I don't listen to anything past '89, because I consider any band/artist that began in the 90s as....blech.

I grew up listing to music that was out before I was born. Classic Rock like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Doors, AC/DC, etc. I still listen to them more than any new bands.

Just to clarify...there is some good music now. For example...Counting Crows is my favorite band. I like other bands from this era but they are mainly single-dominant artists. Think about another post on this website that asks what album you would listen to all the way through...except for the Counting Crows and maybe 2 more...I'd take the older music any day :D
That's just me.

People forget that there were plenty of albums with one hit song and then lots of filler on them back in the day as well. For example, I actually own a copy of this one (purchased sometime in the 80's):

I'm rooted in the 50's 60's and 70's.....but I do like Jack White - White Stripes etc. and Davy Knowles of Back Door Slam. Saw Davy open on acoustic and dobro, (solo, no help), for Jeff Beck and he got a great reception from an audience that was a bunch of 50 year old+ male guitar players who were jonesin' for JB....not the opener.....

try itunes, you can by songs for 99 cents and download them. no need to buy the whole album, unless you like the whole thing.
