Just tell them you were on forum time!!! Oh wait that would make it even earlier, and thus you even more of a lush!!!

Honestly, that was the least bad photo of the bunch!

Not one for an album cover... (Well, maybe covers of Dean Martin numbers...)

Cheers - C

Dean Martin from the Rat Pack? Mmhh that gives me an idea for an Official Forum Band.

Ceri, I love that guitar.

You're right, way more fitting for the inside sleeve, opposite the lyrics!!!

Claude you said in your next to last post it would take you a few years to afford a custom shop model so that means you started this whole thing and you would not have been down for getting one. Now that has me dumbfounded.

Hi straycat113, don't worry it goes like this. In the end of the 70's I owned a very cheap clone of a Gibson SG for a few months and got rid of it because I didn't bond with the electric thing at that time. I always kept my accoustic but played only on and off for the next following years. So, turning 50 years old brought to me the strong desire to try again the electric guitar, but this time I wanted a good axe to start with. But still it had to be not too expensive, so I opted for my 60th MIM Strat with a Roland Cube 20 amp. Since then, I acquired more experience and when I wanted to upgrade my amp I bought a Blues Junior. After that I wanted to have another guitar but something very different from a Strat so I bought a Highway One Telecaster. All of this took place before the latests prices hikes, so it wasn't too expensive. Now after two years of playing and trying MIAs and American Deluxe, I noticed that my local guitar shop started to receive some Custom Shop guitars from time to time. I made the huge mistake to try some of them occasionally and now I want one. Well one for a start. They are astounding guitars. The colors, the wood, the feel, the sound, everything is so special about them. They are like me, unique and crazy. They are also less expensive that a Custom Shop that you'd order with your personal list of specs, but the step before. Now, during the process of saving money for my dream guitar, I was hit by this crazy idea of asking someone at Fender to build a special run of "Members only" Strats, because beeing a regular reader of the Fender Forums, I sensed a bond between the members. Something that make me feel everyday like coming here to read comments, ideas, experiences and just take some news about everyone who posted something. (Don't worry, I'm not trying to buy anyone to my ideas of a Forum special guitar). :)

I can't buy a new guitar every year and I don't want to, but if I have to postpone my dream CS guitar to use the money to buy something more unique and meaningfull, I might do it, depending on the guitar (or amp for that matter).

Hey straycat, sorry for the long borind post but I hope that everything is clear now. :)

good idea, but what members should be allowed? exclusive - yes; only special people - so unfair, no!
how about members allowed to buy them first? or a little cheaper?

oh, btw: i'd be in favour of a telly and/or strat series. a solid guitar with good sound - simple, nothing too speacial but 1 unusual feature. (e.g. the possibility to lock the trem to a hard tail for the strat... oh, and of course a lot of different colours [from hot rod red, daphne blue to surf green and butterscotch blonde :D] + MN or RW fretboard!)

would be awesome - never gonna happen

Claude and guys got an idea what if as soon as Ceri has completed niki's strat rebuild he develops his metal working skills, we could then have Ceri fashion his logo with 001 numbers idea included in a branding iron, get that fish smoker cranked up to No11 we could then all turn up and have a guitar & player personalised branding, Ceri you would probably have to spend some time at the Fender factory for training, safety aspects and certification to enable you to carry out personalized brandings in Fenders name, that way we could all have our own specs but one unique brand.
Maybe a right or left buttock poll req'd also

You can please some of the people some of the time, you can please some of the people all of the time, but you can please all of the people all of the time.

The previous ideas regarding a logo which could be applied to an individual's personal guitar of choice is the better way to go.

I would be in.

I still think the simplest way to go would be to have the 2 main guitar models and 2 main bass models all done in a special colour with an inlay or special decal.

Even havin it MIM would be a way to go as Fender would shift more for those who couldn't afford.

A certificate with our username too would be a nice little spice.

It would be great!

Using the entire Road Worn series as a platform, finished as you suggested might be a way to go. Failing that, a removal decal.
