Wow! Those were pretty bad, but my favorite worst lyric was "I love you like a fat kid loves cake.

I didn't really have a problem with any of them except for the rap ones. I think they are analyzing things a wee bit too much. It is music by the way. It doesn't have to make sense all the time.
I'm sure you could pick apart many great songs and pick out some lyrics that don't sound right when you take them out of context of the song.
Hey if it sounds good, it is good.

Peace

Taken out of context, many lyrics are stupid.

So are things people say.

Certainly the dumbest line/song that I can remember is
"Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love In My Tummy"
Catchy tune, though.

Nope.. They got it wrong. They missed one. Just read the lyrics to the violent femmes' Blister in the Sun.. The whole song could account for 10-spots on the list.

Bad lyrics are a plague... there's no way you can confine it to just 20.

Also, that Bernie Taupin line is actually good. And the line from "Smooth Operator," well... that's not bad. Tthe writer is assuming that "LA to Chicago" is a repetition of "coast to coast." It's not.

What's bad is "Well, I'm-a runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load." THAT'S bad. Real bad. So is "Manic depression is a confusing mess." ANd they only included one hideous DeathMetal™ style lyric? Man, you could get all 20 just from that genre!

"Rotting stench of the crypt I smell
Demons drag you down to hell
Souls of torture still have cried
And my stupid parents won't let me use the Biscayne 'cause I'm grounded so if you wanna go to Lake James this weekend you're gonna have to get another riiiiiiiiiide."

What? No, "Hub Cap Diamond Star Halo"? Haven't they heard of T-Rex?

Sammy Hagar - 5150

"Time will tell if we stand the test of time."

(No kidding, Sam. Smoking too much of those Cabo Wabo funny cigarettes.)

Dude, that lyric is freakin' brilliant. Pure rock and roll... not just girls and cars... but girl AS car.

"Well you're windy and wild,
Clad in black,
Don't look back and
I love ya...."

Awesome.

How about some new lyrics...
Sade and 50cent singing, "I wish it was Sunday, That's my fun day, My I-don't-have-to-run day but to look at a map and see that LA and Chicago are not on separate coasts!.... Doing-doing-doing.... I love maps, like a fat kid loves cake!"

Now I hope the RIAA doesn't try to arrest me

Flashback, that was exactly the one which came to mind.

A runner up, "Seven little girls, sittin' in the back seat, kissin' and a huggin' with Fred."
