I have a Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus Pedal, and I was trying to get a Jaco Pastorius sound, but It was hard and I came kind of close. And I realized it's almost impossible to duplicate a sound, so just work on making your own sound.

Jimi,Pages set uo was really very basic and should not be that hard to duplicate, except you are playing the wrong guitar. Jimmy used a telecaster for the first ZEP album but after that his main ax was a 59 Les Paul standard played through a 100 watt marshal and the only pedal he really relied on was a vox wah which he used to leave on and find the sweet spot to play a lot of his solos- which means he was not using his foot to rock the pedal back and forth but finding a set setting on it .Jimmy did use a Strat on Presence but the main Page sound is a Les Paul through a marshal. So any Humbucking guitar with a loud tube amp should get you close and dont forget the wah. Slash has a very similar rig.A lot of guys think you need a lot of pedals to cop some famous tones but a lot of the greats played very basic the biggest blunder you will se is people trying to mimic SRV with distortion Stevie was a very clean player who did not even use that much gain and used a tube screamer and wah and Strat.

BOSS has a website 'The Pedals That Make The Tone' http://www.bossus.com/go/tone/, there are quite a few pages in the archive, and you can email Paul Hanson about other 'tones'.

+1

Everyone needs to find their own sound. Check the Boss site to see if they have any suggestions. There are a few settings that they have posted to help a little.

Jimivan, if you have an epiphone les paul you really should not have a hard time coping his tone .A distortion pedal is not going to give you that classic rock sound.Like I said his rig was very basic a Paul a vox wah and a Marshal and step on the wah and find a sweet spot as that is how he did it on most of the early albums .Good Luck.

JIMI try these settings on your amp for PAGES TONE
Gain-4
Treble-8
Mid-3
Bass-7
Reverb-2

And use as much of your distortion pedal as you feel needed. You dont say what kind of amp you are using but if you have a few bucks set aside try to cop a Crate vintage 50 on ebay they go for like $250 and iare one of the best sounding amps for any price. They are all tube you have to get the white or these days it will look twwedish color and that will give you a dead on ZEP sound, they way a ton and are the only Crate amp that sounds great check the reviews on harmony central.I have one I just leave in the basement.Paul Reed Smith has one he uses go figure.
