I am looking to purchase a fender telecaster thinline from a third-party. He indicates that its new and was purchased recently. Is there a way of verifying when the guitar was made? Does the serial number on the back mean or tell me anything? If so, where do I go check out details about this particular one. Thanks for any help.

If you know the serial number, you could punch it into here:

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

A Mexican guitar's serial will begin with "MZ", and a US guitar's (newer than 2000) serial will begin with a "Z".
