Well, Optical Race by Tangerine Dream as always been one of my favourites. Not a bad track on that in my view. I'll stay off guitar albums, there are just too many of those I could mention.
Back in the seventies I had a telescope and did a lot of stargazing at night.
I would play music while I was doing that and an amazing album called Snowflakes Are Dancing by this guy called Tomita was perfect when scanning the skies, searching for celestial lollipops. It was at the time a modern take on Debussy.
Magical stuff, it still blows me away. 8)

Rhumba, The Engufled Cathedral now thats a stargazing song for sure the sounds of looking to the Heavens!

Slayer reign in blood. 10 songs each has atleast 3 chorus's and 2 verses and 2 solos. Its all gone in 28 minutes. Its a coffee break album.

My other top one is a toss up between, peter and the testtube babies - supermodels. Or the Macc lads - beer and sex and chips and gravy.
Nothing great on them just sheer juvenile politicaly incorrect comedy genius.

Yeah, that's right cv I'm glad someone else has heard this, it's hard to believe this album was done in the early seventies, just one guy pulling those incredible sounds out of his synth's. Multi-tracked, yeah but the arrangement and production seemed far out at the time.
I bet a lot of the younger guy's haven't heard this. They are missing a treat.
You probably know that he recorded other albums after this. He had a go at the Planet's Suite by Holst and I'm not sure if I remember right but I think he did Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition.
However, in my opinion, none of his later stuff had the same magic as 'Snowflakes'
In fact, I'm going to go and dig it out again and give it another listen.
Cheers. 8)

I would agree Abbey Road is a great album to listen through. I would also have to throw in Led Zeppelin 1.

Most any of the early Moody Blues, like through Seventh Sojourn.

Some great ones have been mentioned. My nomination would be "In Search of the Lost Chord" by The Moody Blues. If you've never heard this...you owe yourself a favor to give it a listen :

Don't forget 'Bitches Brew' once that platter hits the turntable it has to play through, and get flipped, and play to the end. No possible way to only listen to part of it.

Having just watched the movie "Dig!", about the Dandy Warhols and the Brian Jonestown Massacre, I got my Dandy Warhols "Thirteen Tales of Urban Bohemia" out again, and was thinking about albums that were designed to be listened to as albums, all the way through.

What is your favorite? Another one I liked in the past was Abbey Road, although it's mostly the second side that's like this.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here or Dark Side Of The Moon.
