whats the best way? they are looking pretty nasty but im not sure the best way to clean them, last time i took a thin rag and slid it under the strings but it broke my high e. is there an easier way?

(this is on my acoustic...if it matters)

Sounds more like you should change them not clean them.

Wiping down strings after playing prolongs the oil from your fingers degrading your strings.

But I agree, if they're as nasty as they sound I would simply put on a whole new set.

Wash your hands before you play and wipe down your strings when your done and you will get the most out of them .Very basic but somany forget to do this as once there shot thats it .And strings aint cheap no more and another tip always buy 2 extra high e strings to have as this is the string to most likely break and it is a bummer when you put a whole new set on and it happens
