Just got my DVD I preordered from Amazon. I put it in the DVD player and I have to say...I wish I could've been there. It must've been a great time and place to be alive. Now back to the DVD... 8)

Does it have all of the bands? My copy has most everyone at Monterey 67 but my Woodstock copy only has Jimi.

Did you declare it a free concert in your home?
Did you warn people about the brown acid?
Or are you waiting for that stuff?
:D

I was 16 when it happened. My parents were pretty strict, so I only saw it on the news. When the documentary came out, I was surprised when my Dad took my brother and I to see it in the theatre. I must have seen it a hundred times since. I watched it on TV, I've got a VHS copy somewhere, I have the first edition of it on DVD... and now I guess at some point I'll need to get this new edition for my collection. I'd like to wait until I get a Blu-ray.

My Dad, by the way hated it except for the Ten Years After sequence. Even over Hendrix. But, of course he's not a guitarist...

My Blu-ray version from Amazon came yesterday and I watched the entire 224-minute movie in one sitting :!: .

At first I was disappointed in Warner's 1080p/VC-1 video transfer, but it was shot in 16mm, but it's waaay better than the DVD version. I came to realize that it better with my home theater than it did on the big screen.

It's the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track that really makes the experience awesome for me. I could hear that E string that Richie Havens broke, Joan Baez's version of 'Swing Low Sweet Chariot' sounded so soulful, I was moved to tears.

But it also showed the tuning flaws with most the groups.

I was 20ys old when I saw Woodstock at the movie, and it was a little over two years later that I started playing guitar, so I could just enjoy the performances, and not be critical of the musicianship.

After watching 'Ten Years After', and playing along with the footage, I can understand why they didn't want more footage shown. If you listen close at the beginning, you hear Lee tuning, and than he remarks "That's close enough for jazz."

Santana was way out of tune, and so was Jorma when he does 'Uncle Sam's Blues'.

Oh, I'm not nitpicking, it's just that I've grown so far as a guitarist, that now I can hear all that stuff.

Here is the link to great fan operated Woodstock site, here is the page with the set list for each group http://tinyurl.com/ncpz8c.

I'm interested in hearing about and seeing the bonus concert footage, cause I would love to see more of Sly & The Family Stone's set...pretty much everyone's set, even Sha Na Na Na's...

I was a freshman in high school and a couple of older friends of mine were going on Saturday and I was going to tag along. My parents didn't seemed concerned in the least when I asked them earlier in the week. When the early news came down about the concert, they still were going to let me go. The problem was the NY Thruway was closed and we would not have been able to get within even walking distance of the site.

I wish I would have been alive to see the 60's, the golden era of music. Unfortunately I was still in my father's 2 bedroom apartment.

Thanks, it's kind of like the 'mean people suck' stickers.

Last night I watched 'Untold Stories' segments featuring the concert footage that wasn't shown in the original movie version.

I didn't know John Fogerty played a Rickenbacker in CCR. It was strange seeing Johnny Winter playing a 12 string Fender, but with only 6 strings, but he did sound great.

Wow, I forget how big Leslie West was back in those days, he's alittle smaller now.
