hey guys, I'm going to different retailer's forums and asking around about what kind of guitar that the community suggests.

first off, i'm not that experienced in the knowledge of guitars. i got an ibanez GSA for christmas 3 years ago, and i self taught myself and can play by ear.

secondly, I play lead. i play stuff like this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaL5vFYVLUs and this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdlovtN7gZw

anyway, i suspect that there are electric guitars made for leads and solo's, and others made for playing rhythm or whatever. i just dont know what to look for in guitars with my needs.

So what I'm asking is, what should I look for in guitars(humbuckers, tremelos, whatever), and, what do you guys suggest? I've had people suggest ibanez SZ's, RG Tremelo's, SA's. i'd like some suggestions for Fenders also.

my price range is like... $400 - $700, i guess. thanks in advance to anyone that actually reads all this and responds

if you've been playing for 3 years I'm surprised you don't know what you'd want from a guitar.

Its all personal opinion and taste. If I were you I'd pop (apparently knip [sans the k] is a swear? :s) along to a few music stores and try as many guitars as you can and find what ones suit your taste and which ones you can get your best tone out of.

There are so many variables its impossible to say you need this, that and those to play in a certain style. :)

Happy hunting.

You can't go wrong with a strat for lead or rhythm. Great guitar! A rock and blues icon. Good luck. :P

There are so many choices. The key is budget. I seem to like Fenders, so I would suggest a stratocaster or Telecaster both single coils pickups. You have don e the first thing by setting a budget> No go to a local guitar store and play a few different models in your price range. Play it through an amplifier that you currently use, so you can hear how it will sound. If you do this, the guitar will find you. That is how it seems to work. I have stretched my budget by bidding on Ebay. Only thing is that even similiar models will play and feel differently. so far, I have been lucky. Well, that's my two cents. Good Luck! Let us know how you do.
