Hi guys!

I've been out for a while because of school situation. It's nice to see you guys. I need a help about distortion pedals. I use ds1 but I dont like the sound. I'm searching for mxr distortion3. Is it good? should I buy it? Or can you offer another pedal?

Thanks guys

Ali theres plenty of distortion pedals out there all with varying prices. Could it be that you just dont like the sound of distortion and that a overdrive pedal would suit you better?

Mxr make some great pedals though they like all pedal manufacturers are stupidly overpriced.

Hi nikininja,

I tried all the overdrives and I realized that I need a distortion. Yeah I've just checked out the mxr prices and It's so expensive. Do you have any comment for the proco rat dsistortions?

I use a Tech-21 Tri OD with my Fender amps. Blows away any MXR in my opinion. I saw a couple of them on ebay for about $100 a while back. I've had both and the Tech-21 has a far better sound. Something to consider.

I've used the Rat pedal for at least 10 + years. I go from OD-808 pedal, to my Cry-Baby wah, then to the Rat. I really dig the Rat pedal for all out distortion. Usually I just season to taste.

I'm never really impressed with distortion pedals, but I keep looking for a good one. I try A LOT of pedals, being that there's lots of great music stores in the NYC area. The Fulltone Distortion Pro is nice. It's not made anymore, so you'll have to hunt for one.

Two weeks ago, I was waiting around at Guitar Center and was messing around with the pedals. I tried a Digitech Hardwire Valve Distortion and was blown away by it. I ran a Strat and Flying V through it, and hooked it up to a Cube 30 and Fender Hot Rod and I got lots of great settings with all guitar/amp combos. It's got great classic tones, some new ones, and it's very adjustable. Needless to say I walked out with one!

I mostly use the one of the distortion channels on my V3 but when I do go the pedal route I use my MXR Distortion 3 or my Boss Metalzone pedal. The Metalzone is a bit more Nu-Metal and the DS3 is more of a "classic rock" distortion sound.

In combination with my old beat up DOD Overdrive pedal I get some pretty wicked sounds.

I used to use my trusty MXR Distortion + I bought back in the 80's somewhere. Now, I've been using modeling amps to record. But, once I start playing out I'll use my pedals again. Right now, it's just quicker and easier to dial up what I need.
