Bon Jovi's songs.....like "Livin' On a Prayer", "It's My Life", and Joe Satriani's "I Just Wanna Rock"

I think talk box is good, you can make your guitar talking with it.....something I don't know is why they put the pipe beside a mic.....

yeah, i knew you could make your own for cheap and the reason they have it next to the mic is for 2 reasons:
1) the mic stand holds the tube part so its easy to find and not in the way

and

2) the mic amplifies the sound...its not very loud coming out of your mouth

It's a pain to use live, gets filled with slobber and spit fast, and looks "wrong" according to some people in the audience :)

Yeah, it's a cool effect, but how often are you going to use it?

I guess the most famous song with a talkbox has got to be Framptons Show Me the Way and Do you Feel Like We do. He had a very tasteful way of using it.Jeff Beck also used it early on in his career, and also the above mentioned Richie Sambora had a nice way with it.I dont know about investing in one as how much use will you really get out of it.

The first time I heard the effect I thought about getting one. But, like others have stated... how many songs can you use it in? How long would it be before it got old? And you could never sell it...

I did have a Roland guitar synth back in the 80's. I only used it for a year before I got tired of dragging that big floor pedal thing around. Not only that, the thing had to be in perfect tune at all times or else the notes would break up.

So, over the years I just decided to be boring and keep it real, as the kids say.

I had one back when you had to have one to play "Rocky Mountain Way," and ended up using it in subtle ways other than the typical singing guitar" overkill. The wedding band I was in back then played "I'm Easy" by the Commodores, and it sounded great on the solo from that... I'd use it in place of a wah-wah by keeping my mouth tightly closed and avoiding the "back throat" guttural tones like on "Rocky Mountain Way.....

If you want to try one, buy it. You can sell it if you just change the hose, which you can buy in bulk at Lowe's.

I mean, if you just think of it as a cover band tool, it probably does seem kinda silly. But what if you bought one just to see what YOU could do with it?

That's not a talk box, that's a vocoder (or maybe some kind of AutoTune "Cher" effect, but I'm betting on the vocoder).

You know there ain't no party like a west coast party 'cause a west coast party don't stop.
