I like Ibanez--remember they're more than shred guitars--in fact I got my first Ibanez in their pre-superstrat days.
I have an Iceman and an AF95 archtop.

I also like their mid range to higher end semi hollows, and their top end basses are very nice. Some of the lower end and mid range ones are good as well.

As far as acoustics go--I like Simon & Patrick and the other Godin brands.

I can only speak for acoustics that aren't Fender or Gibson. I absolutely love C.F. Martin guitars.

Hey FenderCats-

I have an Ibanez RoadstarII (84 or 85) and it is a great guitar. It feels very solid and the stock pick-ups have a good all around tone.

I've played a Gibson (SG and Les Paul) and really dont like them. They are heavy and bulky just dont feel right.

i would say Parker makes the only 24 frets guitar which I can play comfortably. I have problem with even some 22 frets guitar. A 24 fret Ibanez is definitely not my type of guitar.
For acoustic I have this admiration for the Takamine name. I have a net friend who plays one with finger style pretty well.

I've got an old red Chandler shred machine from the 80's thats fun to revisit once in a while.

I had an Ibanez Artist back in 1981 that I still kick myself is the arse for getting rid of. That thing was sweet.

I've played USA Hamers and they are really nice guitars (but just cost too much).

I also love the Dean Cadillacs

My #1 is Fender of course.

Parker Guitars - "Fly" fast & cool looking "Night Fly M" Composite fingerboard, 22 stainless frets, Fishman Piezo system, Dimarzio pups, Active preamp, Sperzel locking tuners. Lots of Guitar for the money and very versatile

Regards.

I like the Ibanez Artstar, my G&L Bluesboy, and my Hamer SATQ. But my Clapton Strat still goes to all the gigs.

I think the last electric guitar I had that was not a Fender or Gibson product was my cherry red '60s Univox ES-335 copy circa 1970.

I keep looking on and off (depending upon my current employment prospects) at a G&L Legacy.

Electrics: Kinda liked the Reverend's I've played in music stores and the Schecters. Not much experience with electrics outside my Strat.

i like all of my guitars but my absolute favourite right now is my 1998 Danelectro Hodad with the bigsby style tremolo. the sound is great and it just plays silky smooth. i just got a "clone" of a rickenbaker 370/12 and i'll be reportin back on that soon enough

I will say Paul Reed Smith (PRS) make some of the best guitar. I like Fenders, Gibby's, Epi's, and PRS's but there are many well made and playable guitars by a lot of makers.

Late 70's Ibanez guitars are great (if you can find them @ a decent price). I have a couple of ST50's that sound unbelievable. Long scale 24 fret neck, set in a thin (think SG) Mahogany body. Two Humbuckers, master vol, master tone. Simple and effective. I would highly recommend keeping your eyes peeled for one of these. They usually go for $200-$400 depending... I also have a Bob Weir Standard from this era and while it is a far superior guitar, it will cost you. A couple of my basses are also from the late 70's (early 80s too. Up until 83 they were still being made in the same factory, I think).
