My wife and I live this health care nightmare on a daily basis. I'm a diabetic and my wife suffers from the progressive form of MS. We have health care but we can barely afford the co-pay of the meds we both need to take. Sometimes, I do without.

I used to be able to afford things until my company sent my job to India.

The GOP had eight years... but, they were too busy giving America away in the name of "The Global Economy" to worry about their own citizens. We are a country that pretty much manufactures nothing.

We went through a bad economy and an oil crisis in the 70's and didn't learn anything from it. Chrysler had to be bailed out by Mitsubishi back then. The Plymouth Horizon saved their asses because they had nothing but muscle cars in a world of gas lines. The same thing with GM... who's CEO still believes that Americans don't want small, fuel efficient cars. Just like the CEO of Nike believes unemployed Americans wouldn't like a job making shoes.

People should stop getting their info from Faux News and the 700 club. And, I guess a Forum where we're supposed to be talking about guitars.

Chrysler was saved by the Mini van craze after the bail out. And todays economy is because GW did nothing while Presdent to fix what had already been done. He sat back and let it happen true but the ground work was laid already! From David Weidner Market watch Wall street Journal not a faux group or the 700 club.
Quote;
On Wall Street and Main Street they call William Jefferson Clinton the "Comeback Kid," but it's not because of some Election Day surprise.

It's because almost everything he did regarding financial-services regulation has come back to haunt us.

If it wasn't apparent before, the former president's handiwork became clear when President Barack Obama announced his plans for sweeping financial-services reforms. Obama's efforts to bring fair dealing to the mortgage markets, rules to the derivatives marketplace and restraint to big financial companies underscore the missteps of Clinton's second term.

We had weakly regulated markets when Clinton took office, but by the time he left, they were an invitation to lawless dealing. For the ease of it, Willie Sutton would have traded his gun and mask for a briefcase and necktie.

Clinton created a fertile environment for home-lending charlatans and hiding places for Wall Street swindlers, and upset a regulatory structure that had served the financial marketplace so well for more than six decades.

Repeal of Glass-Steagall
But perhaps the biggest mistake of the Clinton years regarding Wall Street and the one that rings loudest today was the 1999 repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, which effectively had split investment banking and brokerages from commercial banks.
End quote

It does not take a rocket scientist to learn why we have what we do today in the economy. Get away from 30minute new shows and read the Bills dont beleive what the media wants you to beleive because it will be in support of who they like and support .

And on the Medication you and your Wife take why do you think it is there to start with? The Goverment did not find and develop it for you a capitalist company did to make money. With out them you would not have it even as a option. Without incentive you have nothing and what is the best incentive there is MONEY and a chance to make it.

You guys should check out Jacob Holdts 'American Pictures', that scares the $@!& out of me

While reading this thread several times I haven't read an argument for the good points of a capitalistic health system...? Doesn't it freak you out that the doctor who's there to stitch you up really cares more about a big fat paycheck than your well being (alternatively, care for your well being because of the paycheck)? Your psysical well being should not be a trade object, I want my doctors to do their job 'cause they want to help others and of interest!

Kind of like how I prefer Duane Allman over The Pussycat Dolls

It's about a right to choose. And the capitalistic health system does work because the capitalistic system works. We didn't become the most powerful economy in the history of the planet by accident. It was through competition and reward for hard work, and good work. If people have no incentive they produce like they have no incentive. And yes I do want my doctor working on me because he loves his fat paycheck. Because he knows he won't have it long if he is a bad doctor. He has incentive to be a better doctor. And most doctors do want to help people, most people couldn't endure what they endure in schooling alone just for the love of money, there are easier ways to make a buck here in America. You see what I'm getting at?

...I do know how capitalism works... I also know how socialism works, which is not what is happening now.

I also know what gouging is, though. My wife takes over 20 different medications. One injection alone costs us $1,500 a month. Even if we only have to pay 20% of that... it's a lot. If she misses any one of the twenty, then she's bed ridden for the day. There are other things that she needs that are caused by the MS that aren't covered.

And, of course there are things that you would think were covered, but the Insurance company refused to pay for. Like an electric wheel chair. So, I we had to foot that bill ourselves.

As for my medication, most of the research for insulin happened in the 1800's... I think the drug companies made their money several times over on that one...

Oh, Chrysler may have been revived by the mini van in 1983, but was saved by the Horizon/Omni which was designed by their French division. The engines were designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi who were their partner at the time. This was 1977. The US version came out in 1978 to compete with the VW Rabbit.

The first 4 years the Omni used the a VW made engine as well as the Trainy. That was before the 2.2 came along in the early 80's and the 1.6 peugeot after that. At one time in the mid 80's I own a 2.2 Turbo charged Carrol Shelby Charger ( Silver Blue Strips w/ the T-1 engine 150hp ) that was a fun little car to drive. I also owned a Daytona Turbo Z when I first saw that at the dealer I had to get it. Now the only Chrysler product I have is My Hemi Ram the others are Honda's
