Here is a free fretboard learning aid one of the guys at my local G.C. turned me on to. This things is pretty cool. Even if you already know your way around the neck pretty well. It's helped my speed quite a bit.

Hmmm, no Vista version.. Maybe I can get it to install and run it in compatibility mode.

I don't know when I'm going to get around to it. It is easy to do though.

Download and install the program (if it lets you install, Vista is strange).
Have the program put an icon on your desktop.
Right click on the icon, select "compatibility mode", select the version you want to open it. Apply/Save it.
When you click on the icon it will ask permission to open.

also may want to check out Fretboard Warrior - www.fretboardwarrior.com a free software program that helps in learning all the notes of the fretboard.

Very nice program.The turning point for me and for anyone is to learn the notes of the D-G-B string on every fret just as mostly everyone knows E AND A then the whole neck lights up.I would just spend 10 minuetes a day at the end of playing with the B string and plop a finger on any fret till it got to the point I knew the note and so on and I have to say when you know all the notes on the neck WOW.
