Doc - Ok, very cool . Mr Burton is truly a guitar legend, and treats everyone he meets, likes he known them forever.

The fest is every year, but this the first time for 'break the record' contest.

I know Jeff Cook will be there, I know Jeff pretty well Image

Another of our Forum, 'orvilleowner', is a Seattle guy. He may pick up on this, and I've just sent to 'Lite'nin' to check out this thread. (By the way, you notice that when I created the moniker, I deliberately chose to spell it differently. There's only one original. )

By the way, Lightnin Hopkins is my all-time favorite classic bluesman and I own quite a bit of his work. I love his style.

Doc.

cryingstrat is (was) a Seattle guy ... I'm on the other side of the state and I probably won't be there.

cryingstrat doesn't seem to come around here much anymore.

That would be cool 8).

It should be fun and Mr. Burton's famous friends should be there as well. Maybe the Peavey Girl might show up Image.

James has chosen 2 songs to be performed by all guitarists for the record breaking attempt on August 22: "That’s All Right Mama" in the key of A and "Hound Dog" in the key of E.

All attempts so far have used Smoke on the Water as the record breaking song.

Very cool Tony! Wish I could be there. I had the honor of meeting James last year when he was inducted in the Fender HoF as well as at the 2004 Crossroads Festival. I have to say he is the nicest man you'd ever want to meet and you can tell he honestly enjoys meeting his fans.

Marty, you're right, Mr Burton (even after all these years, I still can't call him James) is one of the most nicest, and humble famous person you'll ever met. He greets me every time, like he's truly glad to see me. I can't wait to jam with him at the event.
