Another question is, would any of you recommend someone new like me to replace strings on their own? It seems pretty easy and straight forward, but I don't want to mess anything up.

Actually, if you took all the strings off and left them off for a long duration of time, you could damage the neck. However, taking the strings all off for cleaning, restringing, and other possible maintenance should not be an issue.

As far as string changes, I am sure that there are a number of tutorials and videos on the internet you can check out (google is your friend). Or if you know anyone else who plays guitar, ask them. If you are not feeling confident about it, and have no one to ask, take it to your local store and have them show you how its done. I think you'll be able to manage on your own though, as long as you have a tuner. Just take your time, and be patient, and if you ever get to a point where you are confused or having trouble, just stop and ask someone.
