my good freind is thinking about buying a guitar he found somewhere called Alex Axe. the head stock says the company is based in NY and it has a serial # but i couldnt find thier website. The story goes this guy bought it for like $1500 and it belong to the nitty gritty dirt band. it looks and feels nice (maybe '60's??) and plays good. the guy let him barrow it for a while.i think he is gonna offer $800.

thanks for any info :)

I've seen and heard of Axe Guitars but they are more on the lines of guitars from a knockoff company that sell for pretty cheap. I've never heard of Alex Axe though.

Hi trj 1393: that awakens some sort of lurking memory deep under the mud at the back of my head - but I just can't drag it out into the open.

So a quick Google found this:

http://www.lobueguitars.com/alex_music.asp

Could that be the one?

Cheers - C

I remember them well. As a matter of fact, I bought and sold a lot of stuff through there; and having a good friend who worked his way up to manager there didn't hurt either. Not just because of my friend, but Alex' was always my store of choice as long as they were in business on 48th St. If I remember correctly, they were directly across from Manny's.

I thought that Alex Axe was the real name of the creator of Axe body spray, or one half of the tag team Demolition...
