It would be cool to see some new participants. 8)

This is a really good one for you guys to give it a try.

It's as simple as :

1. register for a free SoundClick acct.
2. download "audacity" (also free) - see tutorials on youtube.
3. download one of these mp3's and under file, open into audacity.
4. hit "record" and jam along.
5. post to SoundClick and copy the link here.

Tony, you still have that camcorder, maybe a video tutorial might help?

Yes, I do, but musicians will need some sort of audio interface or amp with a line-out like a G-Dec or Cyber-Twin for example.

A audio interface like the IK Multimedia StealthPlug Guitar/Bass USB Audio Interface Cablehttp://tinyurl.com/lmrjrt, M-Audio Fast Track USB Computer Recording Interface http://tinyurl.com/lvtwju or Line 6 GuitarPort XT Guitar Multi Effects Processing http://tinyurl.com/mz4pyb just to name a few.

Since I already had the basic tracks recorded for Mike's Doo, I went ahead and recoded a lead track http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7827418.

Again I used the AmpliTube Fender® modeling software, for the amp model I used the 'Shadow-less' factory preset.

I want to post, that as of yet, I have not had to read the manual for AmpliTube Fender®, it's that easy.

I want to make clear that any pops/clicks were due to my PC recording, not the software. I'm still not sure if I rendered (mixdown the tracks) too hot.

Ok, here's my Prince inspired Funk Vamp http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7832193, in 'Bb', this will separate the men from the boys. Just kidding  .

I used my BR-600, Casio keyboard and my Squier P-Bass, all mixing was done entirely in my BR-600. With a backing track like this, this gives one a musical canvas. I've already got some free samples and loops, besides guitar I'm going to add to my version.

So, just have some fun :) .

FreeSound http://www.freesound.org/index.php has free loops & sounds, you have to register, it's really painless.

Tony,
Thanks for the thread I promise when time allows to post on your thread. I'm pretty sure I've got the gear to do it between the Gdec my H2 and the PODX3. I just get caught up in the mechanics of it and lose track of time. Its fun to listen to different interpretations of the tracks everyone has posted. don't give up on us yet... :D

I've got Audacity but I'm still learning how to use it.... :x I am conciously incompetent. "I'm stupid and I know it"

I pretty knowledgeable about Audacity, so if you have any questions I may be able to answer them.

Well, I had Mike's Doo jam, but it took a turn for the wild side while recording it. I had a funk vamp in mind, but I've been listening to The Funkadelics and Eddie Hazel the past couple of days, and Hazel's spirit took over.

I also had some left over lyrics that I wrote for a David Bowie song contest, I'm a BIG Bowie fan.

So, here we go with Blind Love http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7840838.

Umm, I'm having second thought about those lyrics with this song. I'm looking for the original on SoundClick, but can't find it.

Hey tony,
I'm registered on soundclick under tdanb... working on a "primitive " track. Laid down a rythm track just guitar and have been playing over it with some lead. I'll post soon. Opinions and suggestions invited. I'm totally out of the loop with the digital age. I gave up on recording when my fostex 4 track gave up on me....

Very cool, I look forward to hearing your tracks :).

I started recording with a Fostex X-14, 4 track cassette recorder as well. Than when BOSS came out with the BR-8 http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=437, I got one.

I read the first 25pg and recorded a song in under 30min, I thought it was very smart the way they designed the control interface to mimic a cassette recorder.

I recorded on my BR-8 for years, until I got my BR-600 http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=753&ParentId=110, if you've recorded on a cassette, you will definitely love a BR-600.
