Suicide by stupidity.
If you get that messed up and unfortunately it leads to death, you've killed yourself.

Just another someone trying to make a quick buck on a conspiracy theory.

To be Honest i think Hendrix is completely over rated but if you want to take it bit further as much as i love Eric Clapton he is over rated as well, I mean what Good songs did Clapton ever write without stealing the riff or recreating an older blues song? The answer is none his only Hit in America was a cover song by Bob Marley and Duane Allman played the guitar on Layla.

You can't deny Hendrix's contribution to Rock music. For the time he was truly ground breaking. Most of the truly revolutionary guitar greats that have come after can trace at least some of what they do back to Jimi.

Was he the best ever? Heck no.

Then again, I think that every guitar icon is just the latest in an ongoing evolution of what is possible to do with the instrument. Go into any Guitar shop and you'll hear 14 year olds coping EVH and RR note for note.

My point is, it's not that difficult to follow the trail once someone has blazed it. In my opinion the real glory in Hendrix, Clapton, EVH, and Randy Rhoads is that they pushed the boundaries that existed at the time and revolutionized how players viewed the guitar.

For that alone they deserve respect.

Oh Boy.Chet and Cvill are you guys really trying to say Vanhalen did not rewrite the book after Hendrix of rock guitar. Now you guys are entitlrd to your opinion but before Eddie appeared every great player in rock was measured against Hendrix, and I dont care what anyone says about someone tapping in 1972 or what year I have listened to all the so called before Vanhalen taps and they dont sound like tapping to me thats Eddies bag totally.I dont think there is another player in history that had his style more blatently ripped off than VH.Everything the guy ever did has been stolen and a million clones appeared.Yes Dave and Sammy are huge parts in that machine but only one guy is writing the music. How come every great shredder after Eddie could never get a singer and have one tenth of the success of that band.I had read an interview with Slash where he said he did not want to tap at all because it was Eddies bag and everyone was ripping him off and Slash just wanted his own voice.Smart move by him as Slash was a breath of fresh air in the 80s from all the cloning. Now my own personal taste lean more towards Beck,Gary Moore ,SRV,Hendrix and Clapton but that next generation and style of playing was started by VH and I am all ears as to how someone is going to tell it different.
