lucky for me, most of the songs seem to be more classic-rockish, so the progressions are rather predictable as far as basic song structure goes... but... looking at it on paper has turned out a lot different than hearing it played.
when i first spoke with bruce (the guy who founded the band and writes most of the music) i was under the impression they were looking for a rhythm guitar player, and bruce was the lead player... much to my surprise, when i got together with them last week i was waiting for bruce to kick in a ripping lead solo here and there, but it didn't happen. when i talked with him later he let me know he didn't play lead AT ALL. he said "do whatever you can to spice things up... we're flexible".
i just got back from the monday night jam and i managed to find the "boxes" where everything fit. i'm having a blast.

thanks MM. i was down to the music unlimited store in kingston a few weeks ago. i'd ourchased a multi-effects pedal (cheap one), but wound up trading it back in for a cry baby... what i really wanted anyway. i mentioned that somebody on the forum here gave a nice plug, and they asked me to extend their appreciation.
nice bunch over there.
