Thanks for the link - beautiful stuff! Even better, I'll be in Las Vegas next weekend and Ed Roman was already on the agenda ... these custom jobs are all the more incentive.

ed roman is the man.

His breakdowns of other guitar companies methods are building guitars are interesting. check out his rants section.

However i believe he's mainly doing orders through the online only and phone . His vegas shop i dont think is open, i received a letter a while back after having a pickguard made by him.

I just checked -- absolutely right! From his site: "We are closing our retail display & showrooms to concentrate entirely on serious customers and internet sales."

Thanks -- you saved me a wasted trip over. I'm sure that the last time I looked (about 2 months ago) the retail shop was still open. Still plenty to drool over on the site though.

Ed Roman has a lot to say about the les paul. His designs do look great and appear to address a lot of the problems i have with the design. Upper fret access the most. However given all he has to say on the bad gibson neck joints you'd think he'd do something about that whilst he has the chance. First name of note i've seen that also points out the bad side of vibration/resonance transferance between neck and body due to the glue around the neck. Something i've long suspected.

Wonder how much they cost?

If Ed Roman has battle axes and machine guns, what does Fender have in the Custom Shop?

Man I hate that Ed Roman guy. Ive heard so many horror stories on him. You know that when you go to his store, you are not allowed to play a guitar through an amp. he says you should know if you want a guitar by playing it unplugged.

you also are not allowed play most of the stuff in his store, unless your famous and have a few albums.

Sure he knows a hell of a lot about guitar building but why would you encourage such a jerk. do a google search on him and see the horror stories on the guy!!!

I imagine he doesn't let people play because as they get played, they become worth less. People aren't known for being gentle.

My friend bought this guitar from his store two years ago from one of Ed's salesmen. He said they treated him nice and let him try out the guitar. I'm sure he wouldn't have bought it if he couldn't try it out with an amp. He is used to going to stores and playing and if anyone gives him a hard time he will just walk out.

I think that is a good policy considering there are so many other places that sell guitars.

By the way I nearly passed out when I saw it. The picture does not do justice to the way the sunlight plays on the wood.
