R.I.P. Jimi :!:

I've seen a lot of "live" acts through the years, but never got to see Jimi Hendrix play "live."

I've seen "Elvis Presley", "The Beatles", "James Brown", "The Stones", "Led Zep", "Jeff Beck", "Steely Dan", "Clapton", "Buddy Guy"and hundreds of others, but I missed one of my biggest influences.

If anyone did get to see Jimi live (even with the Isleys as Jimmy James), I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks !

there is something about him that i absolutly admire, not just the fact that he played the guitar in such a way it canot be copied to perfection. i think its the fact that he came from nothing, and through his sheer passion for music he lived his life the best he could and is such a hero to so many people around the world.

The father of a friend saw Jimi at Woodstock, but sadly I was born too late.

my one teacher was at woodstock. then she saw him 9 months before he died in maryland.
she described it like this.

it was pouring down rain so much that water was going down the back of her pants and down her legs. lightning was everywhere and jimi still played in the pouring rain during a thunder storm. it's amazing no one died.

Two people died at Woodstock. One OD'd and one got run over by a tractor while he was in his sleeping bag. But on the other hand, either two or three (depending on your source) children were also born there.

I think Green's teacher (if i'm correct) was refering to no one dieing in the thunderstorm.

Sorry, I'm a Woodstock buff. I've got to spout off some bit of trivia every time it comes up in conversation. :D

Yeah, I guarantee you that Jimi is probably the biggest influence on the majority of people here. He's the reason I picked up a guitar and started playing, and the reason I bought a Strat (white, of course...)

RIP Jimi. We miss you.
