I was very sad, I watched a bunch of TV shows about music... a lot of band had their performance, but they were using playback....not only the vocals, all the intruments too.

There's a new comer band, dressing like KISS, dancing on the stage, and pretending like they're playing and singing.....but actually NOT
watch this:

This band named 'Kuburan' or graveyard in English

Any band that does a show and does not play should be dismissed as a fraud. Now I will give the benefit of the doubt as if this was a tv showlike AMERICAN BANDSTAND where qan act has no choice but to lipsync I can understand. But if they are putting on a show and not playing they should be exposed for the frauds they are.OH HOW I HATE TODAYS MUSIC SCENE.

Wow. That was awkward, and dare I say it, hilarious. What's with a band that dresses like KISS playing ska music? The black, red, name, and coffin microphone were completely out of place with their music. The worst thing was nobody seemed to notice that none of there instruments couldn't even sound like the music that was playing, and how when, say, a bass note was being played, the bassist would flip up his bass and make a face to the crowd instead of playing it (or even looking like he's trying to play it). Geez.

That one girl-guy was a bit creepy as well.

One thing, the title of the song is "forgot but remember", which about they're forgot the lyrics but remember the song. the lyrics goes

"Forgot....Forgot 4x again the lyrics." 2x
"Remind....Remind 4x only remind the chords...." 2x

And the weird part is the chorus:

"C, A minor, D minor, to G, to C again" 2x

The Icelandic state tv station RUV used to force bands to pre-record their performance and then miming for the cameras :? . Now they do it just sometimes like when they are shooting in places where it is hard to play live electric instruments, like in the Blue Lagoon or on top of a glacier.

Once they where shooting a band by the side of a puplic pool in Reykjavik, the rehearsal went so well they decided to play it live. But something got wet and blew out some fhuses, in live television. All you could hear where faint strings on electric guitars and bass, soft drumming and the singer. It was kind of embarrasing to watch

Hi leonardusnn: it's been going on forever. I've heard that The Beatles famous All You Need Is Love broadcast in the '60s, which was ostensibly live, actually had to be dubbed because the Fab Four were so stoned the live take sounded too awful to put out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzJ2NKp23WU

In the UK we've been cycling back and forth between live playing and miming for decades. About 20 years ago there was a ruling in broadcasting that people had to perform their songs "substantially" live in the studio, even on teeny chart shows.

However, producers (such as the infamous Simon Cowell) objected to it because their acts couldn't deliver the goods. So now we're at a stage where the lead and perhaps backing vocals are usually done live to a pre-recorded track.

Chart type shows, that is. There's still creditable rock shows where the bands perform for real...

Cheers - C

We've got Robot Guitars and Pro Tools to fix crappy vocals, so who needs to actually play anymore.

There's enough stuff recorded now that if it's sampled correctly I'll bet a totally new song could be created by a computer geek at his (or her) keyboard. CG a bunch of rockers and ypu are good to go!

Welcome to the new millenium!
