Hubert Sumlin was the guitarist for Howlin Wolf, and influenced a lot of the greats from ENGLAND(CLAPTON-BECK-PAGE-STONES) to name a few as Wolf toured there a lot and was treated like royalty.Classics like Little Red Rooster,Killing Floor and goin down slow ,showcase huberts skills if you have the second crossroads dvd you will find him on there and can check out how thrilled Clapton is he is there as they show him watching from the side of the stage with a huge smile. He has a distinct stlye as he plays with his fingers.I was always a fan

One of my favorite artists is the Texas Songster, Mance Lipscomb (1895-1976).

His guitar may not always be in tune, but he plays with more feeling than I can ever hope to muster.

Elvin Bishop, Sonny Landreth are two that come to mind.

There is a great blues guitarist called Reverend Raven that is just amazing. I've seen him a number of times around the midwest. I don't recall what the name of his band is... Rev. Raven and the ... ?
Good stuff.

Hubert Sumlin definitely- and Doyle Bramhall II

Robin Trower also made some pretty good blues albums.

Miko....it an honest question, and I take it and accept it with all its sincerity. You should do a Wikipedia on him and you'll understand why I say it's kind of like asking 'who was Amelia Earhardt?' of a group of flying enthusiasts. Sumlin's peers are among the names 63Supro has listed.

The greats of the greats in the evolution of contemporary blues, and hardly unsung. Rather, they are the heroes of our heroes.
