I guess it's because some people think it's fun to stir up the pot... But, like arguing about PC's vs. Macs, Wii's vs. XBox vs. Playstations, Politics or Religion... it gets some people mad. But it also gets really old.

I will say, I quite admire the members of Barenaked Ladies' choice in guitars... they stay away from the "Fender or Gibson" debate... I've only seen them with two Fenders - Steve played a black Tele, Ed played an HH Strat - the rest of the time they've been playing other brands... the closest was the Guilds Steve played.

Too bad they helped open the door for 'fat guys in shorts!'

I don't think either one is better but I prefer my Fenders due to thier affordability. I bought two, one MIA and one MIM, for less than a Les Paul Studio would have cost me at the time.

Uh, I like Fender more, but I'd like to own a LP or a Firebird one day, among dozens of Fender guitars.

I'm a Fender Strat guy first and foremost (though I do own a Tele too). I prefer the balance and scale length of Fender guitars over Gibsons. I've never owned a Les Paul but I did owned an SG and got rid it due to lack of playing it.

Gibsons aren't bad, just different. I'd like to own a Les Paul just to have one, but I'm unwilling to shell out the outrageous coinage necessary to do it.

AGAIN WITH THE COMPARISONS????
Totally. People have to just understand that different guitars just fit certain types of styles better. Theres no kind of guitar that is bad, just bad makers of said kinds. Its just like women, who wants just 1 kind?
