Different guitars all together! I like them both and some others. Not a one is a do it all guitar which is why artist will have several different guitars sitting on stage with them at concerts and I have never heard one say Gibby's are no good. I can get sounds out of My Les Pauls that I would never get from My Tele's or Strat's!

Price. I can get a nice MIM Fender for cheap. I haven't played Gibson's new cheap guitar, but I heard the demo songs on the Gibson web site, snake oil. The guitar has a nice piece of wood, a cruddy head stock, cruddy hardware, and cruddy, absolutely cruddy pickups -- sounded like...wax paper. If the Les Pauls, the nice Les Pauls were MIMed and as worth playing as a MIM tele and *not* junk, ...I'd get one.

While we're on Gibson, I NEVER cared for Epiphone electrics. Their set necks are wobbly, bad. Their pickups are usually junk. I don't like the headstock, the logo. ick.

Gibson would have to a lot to their guitars in the way of price and quality to get me to put down my MIM tele, a lot. I'd have to cream like I do every single time I pickup my tele.

Funny, I have more fun playing my tele in bypass mode, straight out tele, sounds so amazing.

Lets not pick on Gibson. Very good guitars that just dont suit me.

Forget the lespaul how iconic are the V and Explorer. Both designs were shelved for 10 years because the world wasnt ready for them.

That is were you are wrong, most Gibson's have individual adjustment for the strings....

And give me one good reason to pick on Gibson, becouse i don't see why i should...

Why you be hatin' on Gibsons anyway? :?

Now that I can get a SG standard cheaper than a MIA strat I'm thinking a Gibby may be in my future.

Why do we need to be comparing Fender and Gibson? Both are obviously great names in their own right.

Play whatever instrument best suits you. And I'm not necessarily saying only Fender or Gibson. That being said, I really dont think there should ever be any kind of dispute between either name. If you were meant to play a strat, then play one. And vice-versa. But don't rag on the other.

hey guys dont be too serious, i love gibsons too but there are bariers with gibbys. like what do you do when you have a teribble neck? or how easy it is to change the pickups of a strat. things like that. no need to be serious here =Dand yeah those tune o matic bridges are limited, the heights of the strings are all the same. what if you just want your bass strings higher for slide? you know versitility? just those things guys. again nothing serious =D

Childish "debates" of this type often lead to the original poster being banned from this site, so please tread lightly.

And why is your YouTube name mikostratocaster when you're playing a Tele in your videos?

Hi Mike,
I see your kind of new here, Welcome.
I guess it would have been better if your topic was "Lets compare features" or something like that. You could still edit the post and change it, if you wanted.

I myself think that the Fender line, is the better choice of guitars, but I also think that any guitar in the hands of a player can be magical.

Hang in there, this is really a great forum, and very tolerant of posts concerning rival products

This is pretty stupid. Usually people who say Gibson sucks possibly never played one. Pick up a Goldtop with P90 pups and you'll see what I mean.

I own all kinds of guitars. I consider the sonic flavors. The price gap is the difference between a hand crafted instrument and a bolt together one. Gibson also don't build guitars in Mexico. I don't like all Gibsons, but I don't like all Fenders either. The $489 Melody Maker is great for a sub $500 American made guitar. Fender has nothing that cheap and made here by American.
I have a 63 Supro that plays like a Les Paul "Fretless Wonder" real low frets great action and great sounding pups. I also have a 57 Dano, fun guitar, Ibanez Artcores are fun too. I have an SG and a Paul also. Why limit yourself to just one sound?

OK,We know how boring and childish these post are.Mike I think you learned a lesson here and I know your young, as I have checked out your videos as you know I left you some compliments. This is not 20 years ago when Fender and Gibson were the giants they used to be.The bottom line is they both still produce top notch guitars but a lot of smaller companies have closed the gap making some outstanding guitars which helped everyone out by forcing Fender and Gibson to offer more for less than they used to.This knocking of other guitars is getting ridicules.Someone shows me something and I like it I dont care who made it I will get one.I mean Slash did not even use a real Gibson when he made APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION he used a knock off that he cherishes to this day.Hey I listen when someone here says something about a piece of gear but as I read more post I weed out whos opinions I respect based on consistency on what they say about things I already know. But if someone is going to put down a company that has made some of the greatest guitars ever then how can anything you say be taken seriously.
