Wal Mart has always asked for censored versions of albums for years and years. I remember NIN having a sensored Pretty Hate Machine, and Puff Daddy having a censored version of his album sold there as well.

I sincerely doubt that any of Green Day's previous efforts sold at Wal Mart weren't edited for content.

In fact the article in Rolling Stone BJA said they were the ones who wouldn't edit it for Wal Mart.. So they are the reason Wal Mart isn't selling it. There are guidelines for music sold there and it isn't a new thing, it's been in place since the 80's.

This is just a ploy by Green Day to throw a fo punk stink about the "Man" and the "institution".

The bottom line is Green is almost 40 year old men trying to hold on to their 20's. Their last album was a $@!&* fest about the government and George Bush....Well Obama is in the White House and Congress is 70% Democrat....

So what do they have to complain about on this album?

Green Day is the K Mart of punk music. I put them on the same playing field as Good Charlotte... About as punk as Randy Travis. I mean if the ideals of Punk still exist.

I mean do punk songs have 3 part harmonies and back up singers?

It's all a package deal like a big mac with fries and a coke.

Oh and everyone of their songs on the radio is edited so why aren't they complaining about the radio censoring their "rights".

Grow Up.

The Sex Pistols, that was real Punk, not all these so-call Punk musicians now. Your right about KMart Punk. We had a KMart but they left after Walmart built 3 giant stores in the same area. They kind of surrounded them. :D

The Ramones were before the Sex Pistols. But, besides that... WalMart always had that policy for music. In order to sell the CD in the store, the record companies and artists either edited the album or not. I'm surprised Warner Brothers didn't make the do it...

By the way, Walmart doesn't have the same policy for DVD's. I don't know why it's different for movies.

Years ago Record Companies were forced to put Warning Labels on CD's with content that was questionable. Wal-Mart in their infinite wisdom still seems to think they rule the roost and can have anything they want. It is about time someone stood up to Wal-Mart's practice of demanding a different version of what everybody else sells.
If Wal-Mart doesn't want to sell CD's with warning labels then don't sell them. There are plenty of other places to sell them and make money doing it.

WAKE UP WAL-MART!

blame tipper gore, al gores wife. Forefront member if not leader of the PMRC in the mid 80's. All those anti bush lot want to know how he got elected? Its because the only viable opposition was from a guy that shares a bed with a woman who wants to censor history and poetry as well as music in the name of Christianity. I'm quite sure the pharisee would have liked to censor Jesus too on his forgive the sinner speach.

Green Day are not punk they never will be. Their a band of hollywood hopefulls that decided they could fool pre-pubescant kids. Even my 11 year old daughter has seen through them and started listening to the exploited. You couldnt even compare em to sigue sigue sputnik never mind the ramones or equaly publicity hungry pistols.

Put pop music and tipper gore in their place, under your heel.

[EDIT] sorry pop music in that last statement should read money music.

I stopped shopping at Wal-Mart because their prices went up and they started stocking the junkiest of J U N K. This music policy just cements it for me.

I am not shopping Wal-Mart until they get better products, lower their prices, and ditch the anal music policy.

Check out Frank Zappa Meets the Mothers of Prevention. I believe Mojo Nixion mentions Gore in "Burn Down the Malls"

Or you can move to Canada and get all the CDs you want at Wal-Mart. They do not have the same policy as their American neighbours.
