I need to go and get me a new pair of work boots! For the last 20+ years I have been wearing Red Wings and the things set me back about 230.00 a pair. There has got to be someone who makes a good comfortable pair of steel toe boots that cost less money but I have never been able to find them. Some of the problem is I wear a 13EEEE or H who else has this problem and have you found a good brand? And do they cost less or what.

Check some of the military surplus sites. When I was in the Air Force, I really liked some of the Bates boots:

I wish you had posted this last month CV! We live fairly close to the ROCKY BOOTS factory over in Nelsonville Ohio - they had a HUGE sale last month, and we went over to try to find some boots - we obviouslly got there towards the end of the week, because all they had left was either size 6 or 13's - everything else was so picked through and bought up!

Hey CV! I've got a pair of Rocky camo hunting boots that I find very comfortable. I guess they make a good steel toe work boot too. Good shoes are a must! When I was working and walking around all day I liked my Rockport shoes. Very comfortable!

Ya if I go back to climbing towers I need good ones for sure. Steel Toe and a good arch plus a sole that don't snag oddly on the steel when you climb or cross over! I am so used to wearing them now after all the years and like Nik said you cant spend to much on your feet but I sure would like to spend a little less if possible but that 13 H that the ones are that I get now is hard to find. H is like a 4XE

That's sure is a more dangerous occupation than your guitar and amp work! I'd get vertigo. I'm sure it pays well and as they say "somebody has to do it"

Ever since my days on the rigs I am a giant fan of Caterpillar work boots.

For me Cats are the most comfortable work boots ever, and durable as all get out.

Don.t no if I will go back to doing it or not right now though after this layoff. I have done that work in many different countries over the years and in some misserable conditions at times. Money has been good but I am getting old for it.

Have you tried Wolverines? They are pretty good and have a great steel toe i them. I agree that Redwings are a little expensive.

I was tried and true to redwings for most of my career ,for the last 8 yrs ive worn wolverines there a little heavier but stand up to kithen grease ,water and chemicals, alot cheaper and last longer if you dont mind the outside appearances

I started out with Wolverines, but they just fell apart after about 6 months of working in the oilfield. I switched to Redwings and will gladly shell out $200 for them as they certainly do an awesome job of taking care of my feet.

Check out Georgia Giant boots!

I get their Lineman boots. I've walked 17-miles hard in those boots, I do about 5-miles per day in those boots, can run like the wind in those boots, extremely comfortable boots. Steel toe, steel shank, Goodyear welt, pig skin, padding, ANSI rated for steel stuff electrical. They have many, many styles and are half the price of the Red Wings! I have a pair that are worn, bad, but still usable.

Checkum out, for sure!

Here's a link to the exact boot I get:
