So here we are waxing poetic on our favorite subject. Well, the MIA Dlx VG finally made it to the house yesterday, and I've asked my guy to set aside a Vocopro Gigstar Karaoke which I intend to use for multipurpose fooling around on my end, as well as keeping my grandchildren entertained. Total savings off original retail pricing, about $1K US given their discounts a sales these past four weeks for all that gear....and....let me tell you dudes....I patiently waited my time on both of those suckers.

This was the moment. 8)

She wants bouncer enhancement surgery and you think about guitars???

Even to me that seems like your priorities are not in order. Jugs beat guitars every day of the week.

And don't forget - we like pictures on this forum.

El presidante Sheridan i see your back on form. Top witt as usual.

Please email me when you get chance, im quite interested in what your gigging situation is at the mo. I'm back in the loop and may be able to sort a gig or 2 out up my way.

Hello Mate! Things have been very quiet with the gigging of late - we're off to do some recording in september and are frantically trying to get some songs up and running (enough for an album and an EP!) Meanwhile I'm pretending that I can play the guitar, hoping everything goes ok!

I'm a bit of a one string wonder who fell into the whole band situation and don't know how I'm getting away with it! (where is your way again? what's the loop story?)

I got a free squier this weekend. Let me know what you think of my clapton inspired hard tail mod!

Senior, that is one finely cut bit of timber. I was particularly impressed with the bevel you put on the tremblock side. Nice work indeed.

I had the same inertia block in the MIM Buddy Guy Polka Dot I once owned, in which I had the trem stopped in the conventional fashion. The technique was to tighten the claw until the bridge sat flush on the guitar top and then sand the block until it juuuuust slid snugly into the space, exerting a slight forward wedge pressure on the inertia block thus keeping the bridge flat to the top. All this without the strings under tension on the bridge of course. Then the guitar was set up.

In terms of balance of forces, this would obviate the need for the forward shim, though nicely done in Ian's example.

I had a '97 American Standard done in like fashion and I expect that my '89 Clapton will have to be revisited in that department as the wood block 'floats' though the bridge does not.

Clapton maintains that the vintage five-spring stopped inertia block gives the guitar a tone the conventional hardtail lacks. Sounds like Eric Johnson's
Coppertop battery ear. But who are we mere mortals to argue with the gods??

So I had an idea this morning while listening to the radio. An advertisement for GC's HUGE Memorial day sale blowout extravaganza and then like lightning inspiriation struck. So I grab the cell and call my wife and tell her: "GC is having this huge sale with amazing finance terms and decent sale prices on the LP's i've been eyeing. As expected, she launches into the 101 reasons why i have to wait 9 more months (the primary being that she wants a new rack :D :x :D )

So far everything is going according to plan. This is when I strike with the meager $120 project body and warmoth neck i've actually been wanting. The combination of mild guilt for shooting me down on the LP in conjunction with the significant dif in price equals an easy sale for my new partsocaster project. Totally worked! I now have permission to procede with the new project AND will be able to sleep at night knowing I didnt have to buy the parts on the sly. Psychology is a beautiful thing! 8)

So does she browse this forum and thus there is a chance she'll tumble onto your scheme?

all_thumbs09,

Your smart, you tell your wife you want a big purchace so she'll let you have a smaller purchace. And you still get what you actually wanted. I hope she never finds out what you are really doing as you may be in a lot of trouble, but for now the reverse psychology is working for you my man.

My wife and I have long discussions about our purchaces. Sometimes we agree to buy something and other times we don't. Considering I have bought 2 guitars in less than a year, I do not think another guitar is in my future for a couple years at least (unless I find a deal). She has said that I can make smaller purchaces like strings or other accessories (pick-ups/pedals) but she knows I can get carried away when purchacing guitar equipment.

To Zontar: No, she doesnt read the forums (aside from the occasional glance over my shoulder)

RK: Yeah, it seems to be paying off so far! She's actually been putting off the enhancement for a few years now (nerves I guess) but a co-worker just had hers done bringing it to the surface again. She's a good woman, so who am I to tell her she cant? Lord knonws she's put up with tons of less than practical purchases on my end for years! This was just my way of getting to yes with far less hassle by capitalizing on the situation at hand. :D

Just a short word from this side of the aisle. I appreciate all of the complex issues surrounding appearance, self-concept and psychological good health, but I wouldn't go anywhere near an O.R. or general anesthesia unless circumstances dictated it to be absolutely vital. Hospitals these days are places to stay out of due to the prevalence of resistant staph and e-coli strains which are complicating the care of patients. Most cosmetic surgery is done in ambulatory office environments w/recovery in some local accommodation, away from trained staff and equipment who are able to jump to it in case of emergency.

Too often we take modern technology for granted. For every case which appears to have been a piece of cake, there's a horror story. :?

As for that dude with the big grin, ( I love Villera's creativity :D ) who is keeping all the ladies on his hit list happy, who the hell knows what kind of crap they're putting in those pills, and whether one ought to be ingesting them.
