So I had an idea this morning while listening to the radio. An advertisement for GC's HUGE Memorial day sale blowout extravaganza and then like lightning inspiriation struck. So I grab the cell and call my wife and tell her: "GC is having this huge sale with amazing finance terms and decent sale prices on the LP's i've been eyeing. As expected, she launches into the 101 reasons why i have to wait 9 more months (the primary being that she wants a new rack :D :x :D )

So far everything is going according to plan. This is when I strike with the meager $120 project body and warmoth neck i've actually been wanting. The combination of mild guilt for shooting me down on the LP in conjunction with the significant dif in price equals an easy sale for my new partsocaster project. Totally worked! I now have permission to procede with the new project AND will be able to sleep at night knowing I didnt have to buy the parts on the sly. Psychology is a beautiful thing! 8)

Well, you could have put the LP on layaway but eventually she would have found out then maybe even more trouble.

You took the best route but you will need a lot of patience parting it together and fitting the parts. So do a lot of research and testing before you put it together. Don't rush. Check out Stewmac for their tech articles. They are free.

Good strategy.

Project guitars are fun and easy, just take your time.

My method also worked really well
Within the last 6 months, I bought:
new Sony HDTV, new Home theater system (all components), lots of LPs(records), and a Gibson CS-336.
What is my secret method you may ask?????
I got divorced!!!!
:D :D 8)

She wants bouncer enhancement surgery and you think about guitars???

Even to me that seems like your priorities are not in order. Jugs beat guitars every day of the week.

Well to be honest Nick, since this is a guitar forum I felt obligated to focus on the guitar aspect of the scenario. The fact of the matter is I get BOTH. So ya see, its really win win! :D

Your fully absolved from any guitar loyalties in your situation.

Look at it the other way, you've already got a guitar.

Aye! tis true! But, by that same logic she already has fun bags as well. I prefer to view this as suplementation in both regards.

Both may give you that warm fuzzy feeling but which keeps you warm at night?

Well be sure to post pics of this new rack once she heals, we the forum will then determine for you whether or not you made the correct choice, LP or ( . ) ( . )
