My band has not practiced since Friday when my guitar arrived, so here are some pics taken since Friday morning when it arrived on my porch.
Image

Here it is at the famous Luckenback Post Office Saturday evening at a wedding reception.

It attracted plenty of attention. No one asked if I was a famous guitar player. The women who have seen this guitar all have reacted positively to the Cypress Mica color.

And here are pictures from a field trip to the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue on Lady Bird Lake today. I can image some interesting cartoon bubble caption above SRV, like "If he could just play the thing."

And here I go to climb the Rockies

It does play real nice.

JM2 (John Mayer Strat second place prize) has been busy recently. The gold Sharpie signature was the source of speculation among local luthiers and players. No playable, visually appealing solution was known, thus the top half has been worn away, but the parts of the signature on the flat part of the guitar are "good as gold" including the really cool Fender "F" after the signature.

This guitar plays too well to sit around with the signature intact. It even sounds good when I play "Rumble" on the Blues Junior.

Last October it was the guest guitar at the Southwestern University Homecoming and got exercised pretty good by one of the alumni. He liked it.

Last week on Wednesday April 8 it made its debut with the Stingrays at the Saxon Pub happy hour slot. (I don't play in that band.) The Saxon Pub is a real iconic club on South Lamar Blvd near Ray Hennig's Heart of Texas Music - the dealer who set up Stevie Ray Vaughn.

We have also discovered at church that the tone through an effects board/direct box and PA system is better than a regular strat.
