I'm wanting to know what the best distortion pedal would be for use with a Highway One Strat(with a humbucker) and a Hot Rod DeVille tube amp.

I'm wanting to play harder music (not metal) like AC/DC sounding stuff.

Any suggestions?

"Best" is too subjective. If you can go to a store and try out a bunch to find the sound you like.

Look on you-tube. There are plenty of video clips of different pedals to check out. 8)

My only suggestion would be to get a analog pedal as opposed to a digital one. Boss has always made a good durable well constructed pedal. Of course there are plenty of "boutique" pedals out there to try. Good luck!

In my opinion, the Boss Blues Driver. But just check out a music store and try out a bunch.

Hey j_rockr, I have a American Standard Strat and a Hot Rode Deville 4x10 the best overdrive I've found so far that sounds good with it is the NOC3 Pure Drive. They're hand made pedals with a very dirty gritty gain and it also has a clean setting that sounds very bright especially with the Deville. Ever since I bought it it has been the only OD pedal I use. They sell for around $170 at ProGuitarShop, if they're outta stock you can email Nick (The guy who makes 'em) he's always very helpful with the purchase. He ships them out fast too. I got mine in 2 days

Nick also custom paints them. They come stock white, but it'll take a lil longer(About a week) to get it to ya. It might not be important to you, but I thought it was a cool option to have 8)

Normally, like every one else here, its best to go with what floats your boat...

But that doesn't mean the Ibanez TS-808 isn't amazing...

Here's a link where you can compare two pedals side by side. There is a lot of pedals you can make up your mind before you go try them at the store.

Good luck.
