Gibson once again offers readers a story about a musician that plays a Fender! This is the 3rd in the last three months that I have read. If you have ever seen Dick Dale, you know, if you haven't your missing one of the true legends of Rock. Recovering from cancer, Dick seems to be doing well and if his recent shows for Fender are any indication of his condition, he should be back touring soon. We love him! Here is the link, enjoy! http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/F ... -dale-520/

I just realized, he plays with his guitar strung "upside down". With the low E on the bottom. I never knew that.

I have seen Dick Dale play it conventionally with the low E on top as well. He also uses 13s and he said at a fender clinic at GC back in the 90's that he even uses them heavier than that. He also played a right handed guitar thr "right" way and turned to left handed. Thats how he learned as a kid. Dick Dale is the closest thing to a guitar hero I have. the last time I saw Dick live was in the 90's at the beach the other acts were the Butthole Surfers and Suicidal tendencies, and some others I can't remember. Great show.

I saw Dick Dale & the Del Tones and Dick's son on Hollywood Beach, FL about five years ago. He played with the same fire he had nearly 50 years ago. Glad to hear he's doing better.
