My wife got tickets to a Buddy Guy show in Vancouver for my fourtieth b- day. I've been a blues fan all my life, so this was special.
Buddy began playing a caramel(?) colored strat that was really beautiful. I'm sure that color is not stock...
He rocked the show despite the unenlightened crowd (why do people buy tickets to things they don't understand?)
The sound was great and i was wodering if any one knows Buddy's amp set up.
I didn't realize how much SRV stole from Buddy until i saw this show...

Welcome to the Forum.

Stevie and Buddy were friends and played many shows together so I seriously doubt he stole anything from Buddy. Buddy probably taught him a few things that he used.

i was fortunate enough to see buddy guy in 1996 at his blues club in chicago on a monday open mic jam. there was about 40 people in the club that night. around 11 PM as i was watching the house band play i looked over and buddy guy was standing at the bar. about five minutes later he was introduced and he played for about an hour and a half. great time.

i have tickets to see buddy guy, dr john and james cotton in august at the hollywood bowl.

He plays there very seldom now; I believe only in March. Anyway, he is a great player and by all accounts a great guy. He is humble and very generous to the new upcoming players.

I saw Buddy play an outdoor venue for our city's Jazz Festival in 2000.
He played as he strolled around the audience, sat in peoples lawn chairs and he let the kids strum his guitar as he played the notes.
It was a great show and best of all I saw it for FREE!

I was lucky enough to see Buddy live twice (would have been 3 times but he got stranded during 9/11). I'm supposed to go to Chcago on business this summer and I want to get to Buddy Guy's Legends club.

I believe that. I haunted his club 20 years ago. Lots of whiskey and cigarettes! God I love blues bars.

No smoking in Chicago now, and to cater to the suburbanites they serve designer drinks. Blues clubs don't have the same flavor anymore.

Hendrix used to go see Buddy Guy and bring a lil tape recorder with him and ask him if it was OK to tape him.I have to believe thats where Jimi got those huge bends in his playing as Buddy lives on the edge with those .Just a great and humble cat and one of the last of the true bluesmen as we really dont have many left.

I saw Buddy Guy way back in 1976 (?) playing at the Bottom Line
in NYC along with Junior Wells. The Bottom Line was  a GREAT
place to hear live music. The place could hold maybe 350 people in it
and I remember I was sitting right next to the stage. Buddy, I recall was
very showy that night and bluesy. Wells, the vocalist and harmonica player was fantastic - I particularily remember him singing " Got My Mojo Working " , made famous by Muddy Waters. It was quite a show and I'm glad I got to see them both in their prime.
