It isn't hard for me to have a good time at a concert so it is a tough question. However, it is really hard to find a concert DVD I really enjoy. The Who live at Kilburn: 1977 is easily my favorite concert DVD. There is so much talent and energy bursting from those guys and that show was a great example. Definitely pick it up if you like The Who- even if only just a little bit.

I was there! My first Who gig - and Keith Moon's second to last.

A classic show, though Pete actually has played better every time I've seen them since...

Saw the same show in Atlanta. Funny, I was in the same condition both going in and coming out...

Saw that one. too, in Atlanta, in the rain at Fulton County stadium. Everyone gathered under the edge of the infield tarp holding it over their heads.

They "crashed" a full-sized mock-up of a single engine airplane into the stage...it came from behind those of us under the tarp...we never saw it coming...we all fell down.

Nice. Do you relive it every time you see the DVD?

Well, I can tell you I've watched the shots where you can see the audience very carefully in slo-mo in case I could spot me and my dad, but no dice. We're lost somewhere in the darkness in the mid-distance.

You can be sure you'd have heard about it loud and clear if I'd been able to find myself in that vid!

That show certainly lives in my memory...

Cheers - C

I haven't been to many in quite a while but one of the last one's stands out, it was Whitesnake and they were very good.
Earlier, the same night Gary Moore played a faultless set, with just himself, bass and drums, even though he looked as though he would rather be anywhere else at the time.
I don't know why, the NEM arena in Manchester isn't bad. Big, but the sound was ok. Anyway he is a bit of a miserable sod.
So, I'm waiting for the next good one. 8)

I saw BB King at the Boulder Theater - a small, intimate theater in Boulder, Colorado - last month. It was brilliant. At 83 years old the man has me saying, "best show I have ever been to."

Rush, R-30 Tour. Hollywood Bowl July 2004. Garden box seats. Directly aligned center stage and eye level to Neal Peart!

Perfect seats.

Perfect performance.

Perfect venue.

Perfect weather.

Got VIP parking and literally just walked to our truck and drove out of the complex within 2-minutes of leaving our seats, waved on by the local heat due to the VIP parking pass (a friend of the family owns/runs a ticket agency).

If they played 2112 in its entirety, I'd have been thoroughly stoked!

After the concert ended, Geddy Lee came back out on stage and just stared at the crowd, giving everybody the power sign, he really tried to communicate a meaningful goodbye with the audience *after* the show, which was way cool! He looked directly at me, I him. Quite a moment, and he knew it and loved it and gave it up!
