Nirvana without a doubt.....good tunes but so what, my band has good tunes, its hardly revolutionary material..........in my opinion they made guitar music go backwards in terms of evolution.......prime example is that they took the rock n' roll 'mantle' from Guns N' Roses and all the kids I see today are in Guns t-shirts, Zep shirts etc......true blues based playing. Like some songs but hate their attitude, hate what they stood/stand for.

I always thought that Metallica was a bit overrated. Their old stuff is good, their new stuff is meh, but they're not the BEST metal band out there. Just, in a way, the media is taking it a bit far.

That, and I'm not to keen on the pop bands like Blink 182, Jonas Bros., etc. They all just sound the same to me. :?

But, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Why do people feel the need, on every forum, to start these pointless threads?

No, you're not. Nobody who hates anything or walks around saying that so-and-so is "overrated" (what the hell does that mean, anyway? That somebody enjoys the music and they shouldn't?) is ever "right."

This kind of thread is the hallmark of people who talk about music instead of playing it.

No recording artist is "overrated." They're all working musicians. The popular ones found an audience. If that bugs you for some reason, tough.

I personally find them interesting to see how people think and what their opinions are. I guess you got up this morning thinking " God if someone posts another of those 'who is overrated threads, im going to go postal'. Lighten up , its entertaining and called communication and free speech.

I would say Eric Johnson. Kids always say that their favorite guitarist is, or that the best guitarist around is Eric Johnson. He's great, I like him, his new Strat I reaaally want, but too much credit for battery boy, if you ask me.
