Don't like it, don't listen to it, don't buy it.
There are all different tastes in music, people differ.
This thread is a waste of time and intelligence.

There is a huge and valuable point being made by this thread, one which resonates with special power in this well-documented age of the Gen Z group-think Borgmind social dynamic:

It's easier than ever for the media to manipulate large segments of the market into slavish worship of pure musical trash. Taste is now generated by groupthink over text messaging and MySpace and Facebook and all the other social networks. All through peer pressure and lowest common denominator elimination.

We've become a nation of overhyped products, musicians included. Did Britney Spears and all the American Idol songbots become hugely popular through merit???

Overrating is the new name of the game now. The hype works, millions fall into line through the peer fear in the collective texting Borgbrain. And this thread is part of the first wave of fighting back. Props to the author!

+1 on John Mayer

AND also, Dave Matthews.

Springsteen is overrated too, but he does seem to have staying power.

Personally I'd have to say the Beatles are one of the few bands that it's almost impossible to call overrated.

For what it's worth though, I've always thought of the Who as being a bit overrated, though I am a huge Zep fan. (and a who fan, nonetheless!)

Now, I'm not saying these people are useless or evil. They're just overrated in my humble opinion.

John Mayer get beat up a lot here, and I would say I have to agree. I'm not saying he isn't entitled to his success, but he's no guitar god and his style is bland.

Nirvana - nothing they did hadn't been done (better) before.

Dave Matthews - I guess I just don't get it.

Stevie Ray Vaughn - just kidding. Just seeing if anyone was paying attention.

I love Springsteen, but man a lot of people don't.

No, you're not. Nobody who hates anything or walks around saying that so-and-so is "overrated" (what the hell does that mean, anyway? That somebody enjoys the music and they shouldn't?) is ever "right."

This kind of thread is the hallmark of people who talk about music instead of playing it.

No recording artist is "overrated." They're all working musicians. The popular ones found an audience. If that bugs you for some reason, tough.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Chet you are wise seriously!!! :D

First of all look up the word SUBJECTIVE,

Secondly, I was bored at work and am wasting time and am not hurting anyone.

Thirdly, unless your last name is Fender, and I doubt it is, then this isn't your website so if you don't like it don't post or don't read it. You have that right.

Fourthly and most importantly......piss off

hell yeah!!! :p
