I say go for it. I have more than just Fenders. Gibson, Ltd, Skylark, B.C. Rich., Ibanez. Nothing wrong with variety. I know the feeling. But maybe just go Pawn Shoppin and see what you can find. It kind of makes it more of a spontaneous adventure. You might find something you never thought you'd find or think about. My Skylark is one of my favorites of all time. Bought it at a Pawn shop for $200.

You could always try your hand at the acoustic guitar. There are alot of electric guitar players that keep a good acoustic to write with and play around on to get a break from their electric overload.

Seems to me that anybody that is so focused on his Strat and that sound , that he actually complains of being bored with it, needs a life.

Get a girlfriend. Start gardening. How about school? Work? Tell you what....Ceri and I have hijacked a perfectly nice thread in the Lounge to discuss the details of smoking meats. Come round, we can find something for you to think about besides Strats for a while.

Ah, now I thought Niki's remarks about listening to other music for a while were good; but this is a seriously constructive suggestion!

Let's not go too far, though. That Strat may be made of wood - but there's better timbers for smoking food. Don't get carried away...

Cheers - C

Hey maybe you just need a break away from the guitar period. As much as we love them they can get us all a lil frustrated.Me personaly iy would have to be something I had no control over like VACATION WITH THE WIFE or something to keep me away (even though my mind was always on them)but sometimes that lil break does a world of good. But also I think having a guitar with a humbucker is a must for that variety even though it took me 20 years to get one.But you always come back to number one.

Hey Mayercaster here's an idea to combat your boredom . . .

Now is the perfect time to buy:

:D An HH Strat
:D An HSS Strat

or

:D Mod one of your existing Strats with different sounding pickups

That way you are still all about Strats but you have a variety of tonal options at your disposal. Don't limit yourself to thinking of the Strat as only a single coil beast. I've got one Strat in traditional SSS and one thats HHH (with the humbuckers splittable.)

Recommendation here...

...expand.

Repeat, 'recommend immediate expanding.

Half your listening library is Strat-playing artists? In this opinion, less than half should be electric guitar at all.

Play some folk and world on your Strat. And load some in your listening-machine. Play some classical on your Strat. Maybe some country on Strat and for sure, a big pile of jazz.

And what's so bad about having a Jazzmaster, Jaguar or SG, anyway? Plug it into the Twin Reverb and explore something else. Lotsa somethings else.
